Her Life
February 2, 2014

Visalakshi graduated from Hindi Visharada, equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Hindi.  Later the Indian government went on to declare the degree as a Master’s Degree.   Visalakshi started her career as a social worker for women’s welfare.   She then taught Hindi at the convent school her children attended.  Later on in life, Visalakshi started a successful refreshment stand at the Hyderabad Bus Depot.

Visalakshi had many talents and was known as the best cook in the family.  She loved to sing and play the violin and harmonium.  She had an uncanny wit and was a very dynamic woman.   Her greatest love was her family.  Visalakshi was given many names, Lakshmi, Ammamma (grandmother), Akkai (sister), Attaya (mother-in-law), Pedaatta/Pedamma (great aunt), and most importantly Amma (mother).

She was regarded as the matriarch of the family and she will be forever in our hearts.
