Wade Merrett Champion, Sr., 80, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at his home.
A native of Harnett County, he was the son of the late Thomas Merritt Champion and Estelle Morris.  He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Bunnlevel and retired from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture.  
A Visitation will be held Friday, August, 24, 2018 from 7:00 – 8:30 P.M. at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor.  Burial will be private.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-nine years, Frances Suggs Champion of the home; two daughters, Nancy C. Jackson of Stem, Susan C. Hayes (Eric) of Creedmoor; a son, Wade Champion, Jr. (Aprill) of Stem; two sisters, Patsy Champion of Texas, Pansy Sargent of Bunnlevel, a special sister-in-law, Hazel Faircloth of Erwin; granddaughter, Caroline Frances Lacy and grandson, Jonathan Wade Jackson.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne H. Champion.

Papa Champion (as he told my daughter Francesca to call him) was a wonderful caring man. Always very thoughtful, loving and genuine. There are no words to express how appreciative we are for having known him. We will keep the Champion family in our prayers through this difficult journey.

Mr.Champion was a one of a kind man he was the best neighbor and an a amazing friend he was like a father to my husband Joey who will miss the long talks hanging out in each other shop/garage when they both was supposed to of been working god received a special angel and I know we will one day meet back up with you in heaven we love and will miss you Mr.Champion

I am so sorry to hear of Wade Champion Senior's passing. It was always a pleasure to talk to Wade, he was so interesting and so smart, he was a good person and will be terribly missed.
