Walene Heermann

June 15, 2018

Funeral services for Walene D. Heermann age 83 of Pilger, NE on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pilger, NE. A luncheon will follow at the Cooper Family Community Center. Interment will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery, rural Wisner, NE following the luncheon. Visitation will be on Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pilger and will continue on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner is handling the arrangements for the family.

Walene passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, NE.

Walene Dale August Heermann was born July 25, 1934, in rural Stanton County to Wilhelm and Emma (Koopmann) Heermann.  Walene was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church rural Wisner, attended grade school at District 46 in rural Stanton County and graduated from Pilger High School in 1951.After graduation he lived and worked on the family farm with his Dad until he joined the Army in 1954.Walene was a radar crewman stationed in Lynn MA and South Korea.After his service in the Army he returned to the farm.

Walene married Bernice Drott on Dec. 4, 1956 at the United Methodist Church in Stanton.They farmed south of Pilger until moving into Pilger in 1996.

Walene was a current member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Pilger.  He was active in his community and served on the following boards:  Farmer’s Cooperative of Pilger, Stanton County Rural PPD, Nebraska GNT, Stanton County Rural Fire Board, St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, St. Matthew’s Cemetery, School District No. 46, Haymow Community Scale and Wisner Table Tennis Club.

Walene enjoyed agriculture, livestock, playing cards, playing table tennis, baseball, Nebraska football and spending time with his family.

Walene is survived by his children: son Wayne and wife Jayne (Moes) of Pilger; daughters: Sheryl and husband Glen White of Madison, Wanda Heermann of Pilger, Denise and husband J. Scott Schmidt of Columbus, Ann Soulliere of Columbus; grandchildren: Jennifer and husband Paul Morizzo, Janine Heermann, Steven Heermann and wife Autumn (Biermann), Emma and husband Tim Eichelberger, Dale White and wife Charlene (Kastanek), Melissa White, Stephanie and husband Nate Hahne, Brandon Schmidt, Douglas Schmidt, Amanda Soulliere and fiancé Dan Kalin, Abbie Soulliere; great grandchildren: Dominic and Anthony White; Isaac, Sterling, Peyton and Adrianna Schmidt; and Brynlee Hahne; sister-in-law Frances Heermann and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice in 2013, his parents, 3 brothers and 7 sisters.

Bernice (Drott) Heermann

Funeral services for Bernice Heermann age 74 of Pilger, NE will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pilger, NE. Interment will be at St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wisner following lunch. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Minnick Funeral Home in Pilger and will continue on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.

Bernice passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point, NE.

Bernice Ann Heermann was born October 12, 1938, in rural Stanton County, to Carl and Pearl (Long) Drott.

Bernice was confirmed at United Methodist Church in Stanton on December 6, 1953. Attended grade school in rural Stanton County. Graduated from Stanton High School in 1956. After graduation attended St. Joseph Beauty College in Norfolk. 

Bernice married Walene Heermann on December 4, 1956 at the United Methodist Church in Stanton. They farmed south of Pilger until moving into Pilger in 1996. 

Bernice was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Pilger and member of the St. John’s Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Pilger Senior Citizen Center. 

She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, board games and doing ceramics with her grandchildren. Bernice enjoyed attending many of her grandchildren’s events. Her family was her life. 
Bernice is survived by her husband Walene of 56 years; Son – Wayne Heermann and wife Jayne (Moes) of Pilger; Daughters – Sheryl and husband Glen White of Madison; Wanda of Pilger; Denise and husband J. Scott Schmidt of Columbus; Ann Soulliere of Columbus. 
Grandchildren – Jennifer and husband Paul Morizzo; Janine Heermann, Steven Heermann and Emma Heermann; Dale and wife Charlene (Kastanek) White; Melissa White; Stephanie Schmidt and fiancé Nate Hahne; Brandon Schmidt; Douglas Schmidt and wife Elise; Amanda Soulliere and Abbie Soulliere. 

Great Grandchildren – Dominic White; Isaac, Sterling, Peyton and Adrianna Schmidt. 
Three brothers – Robert Drott and wife Dorothy of Flippin AR, Carl W. Drott and wife Mary of Stanton and David Drott of Washougal WA; One sister – Jeanette and husband Marvin Brummond of Pilger. Many nieces and nephews. 

Proceeded in death by her parents; sister-in-laws - Mary Jean Drott and Jean A. Drott; brother-in-law, Kenneth Wolverton.
