Mr. Meadors was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn McEachern Meadors. He is survived by his sons Walter J. Meadors, Jr., Drexel (Candy) Meadors, of West Point, and Dwight (Beverly) Meadors of Birmingham; five grandchildren, Emily (Bradley) McEntyre, Dan (January) Meadors, Stephanie (Mike) Danciu, Craig Lindsey Meadors, and Laura Meadors; and six great-grandchildren.

Born January 1, 1916, in Gulfport, Mississippi, Mr. Meadors was the son of the late William D. Meadors and Emma Craig Meadors. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry and as senior warden. Mr. Meadors graduated as a textile engineer from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn) in 1939, and he worked for many years for West Point Manufacturing Company and its successor companies. He retired in 1972 as V. P. in charge of purchasing. Mr. Meadors served as a Lieutenant j.g. in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He saw action at the North Africa invasion, the Sicily invasion, and the Normandy invasion, Omaha Beach, on D-Day. Mr. Meadors was always active in community affairs. He was a member of the American Legion and the West Point Rotary Club, and he was a long time and faithful supporter of Valley Haven School. He will be greatly missed by his family.
