Willard Henry Carpenter, 64, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham.
A native of Durham County, the son of the late William Henry and Ethel Nipper Carpenter. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and was medically retired from Bugman Inc. in Durham.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Oxford by Brother Jack Cox. Burial will be in South Granville Memorial Gardens in Stem.
Surviving are his wife of forty-four years, Trudy Painter Carpenter of the home, two daughters, Lora Carpenter Garrett of Oxford, Tracy Carpenter Britton of Wake Forest, a son, William E. Carpenter of Oxford, a sister, Lillie Mae C. Wiggins of Durham, a brother, Tyson W. Carpenter of Stem, seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby C. Ferrell and a brother, Lonnie A. Carpenter.
Visitation will be held Monday evening, August 19, 2013 from 7:00-8:30 PM at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the home.
Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford is assisting the Carpenter family.

Willard (Birdman) I always looked forward to your emails that you sent me in the past and the last year or so you did not get on the computer sending jokes as much, but I could send you one once and a while and you would always respond Hey Robbie how are you doing and we would e-talk a bit. Willard you've been through a lot with our family and you still loved my Trudy through it all. I will miss you so much. You were a great man and I know Jesus was happy to welcome you home. Willard you and I was like a brother and sister. We loved to fight all the time about me, you and Trudy. We laughed, cried and shared many a year together. We talked of God and where our life was with our Father God and our Dear Christ God's Son. He gave his life for us on the cross for us so you can look down at Trudy and I just to see what we are really up to. LOVE!!!Linda

Pawpaw you were trully a great grandpa. I could have asked for a better one. You were always there when I needed your hugs. And told me straight up how to deal with something if I had a problem. I'm ganna miss being able to come up and say hey pawpaw and hearing hey girl! And getting your wonderfull hug. I know your in a much better place. And I know you'll be looking over us. I love you!
