Obituary - 2013

August 15, 2013

William Edward (Bobby) Butler, Jr., 86, a life-long resident and third generation farmer in Fauquier County died August 2 at his home after a long illness with his daughter, granddaughter, wife, and caregivers, Mary Ann, Christine, and Jennifer at his side. He was born April 25, 1927 to William Edward Butler Sr. and Agnes Louise Murray Butler. He married Ida Juanita Browning Butler on August 30, 1962.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, George L. Butler Sr. and sister, Mary Elizabeth Butler and nephews Roger Olinger and "Butch" Butler.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita; his only daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Allen Trigger of Salem, Va. and 12 yr. old granddaughter, Lillian, and by his three brothers and their wives, Clarence E. (Mary), Samuel M. (Betty) and Ernest R. Butler (Mary Sue), and two sisters, Virginia Dodson and Lucy Lohr as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
His office was at Moo Hollow Farm and was visited regularly by locals. Farming was in his blood so when he retired from the dairy business he raised beef cattle and hay. Farming and love of his family, friends and animals was his life. He loved riding his tractors, working with his animals, and talking with people. No one was a stranger to Dad. As he aged, "TR" McDermott helped him with his farming. He was active in the Democratic Party, the Virginia Dairy Association, the American Heart Association, the Cedar Grove Cemetery board, and funding of Liberty High School. He gave his time and financial support to the Fauquier County Fair and the 4H.
Each year he organized and hosted a harvest celebration, "Corn Roast", for the community. More than 400 people attended and enjoyed food, entertainment, hayrides, and drink. Dad loved Christmas and was known for his over the top light decorations of his house and barn. He dressed as Santa Clause and visited residents in nursing homes and hospitals. He loved people and his pets, cows, dogs, cats, and a pet goose. He always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell.
A special thanks to Martha from Hospice for all of her caring and support and to Ruby and Carla his other caregivers.
A CELEBRATION OF BOBBY's LIFE service for family and friends will be Saturday, August 10, 1PM at the Remington Lion's Club, 11326 JAMES MADISON Highway, Bealeton. A luncheon will follow the service.
