The funeral for William J. ?Bill? Meyer, 73, of Fremont will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. He died Sunday, June 15, 2008, at Arbor Manor in Fremont. He was born Aug. 18, 1934, in Scribner to William and Bernice (Paden) Meyer Sr. He grew up in Scribner. He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 5, 1956, to Nov. 4, 1958. He returned to Scribner and was employed by Richie Dairy as a milk delivery driver in Fremont for several years. He also worked for Kort Amusement at North Bend and for three different carnival companies. He owned and operated a roller skating rink in Scribner and West Point and also was a big band promoter. He moved to Fremont in the 1980s and worked at the Fremont Armory. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Post 18 of Fremont. Survivors include: two sons, Mike (and wife, Rita) Meyer of Fremont and Kenneth (and wife, Angie) Meyer of Scribner; a daughter, Debbie Meyer of Gretna; a sister, Kathleen (and husband, Wayne) Wagemann of Des Moines, Iowa; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty (Wegner) Meyer; and a grandson. The Rev. Mike Meyer will officiate Wednesday?s service. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Glencoe Cemetery at Dodge with military graveside services conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 854 and American Legion Post 20.
