Mr. William H. “Po Sam” White was born April 10, 1930 in Harris County, GA to the parentage of the late John and Lizzie (Sands) White.  He departed this life on April 17, 2013 at the Florence Hand Nursing Home, LaGrange, GA.

William attended the Harris County Public Schools System.

In early years, “Po Sam” accepted Christ and united with the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Joe Fitzpatrick.  In later years he united with the Lanett Church of Christ, where he remained until his death.

William met and married Gearldine McCord and into his union, a son, James, was born.

William retired from the pulpwood industry with many years of service.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Sands.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a son, James White, West Point, GA; devoted sisters-in-law, Adeline Matthews, Rosie (Mose)Patton, Lanett, AL; niece, Shelley Thomas, Cleveland, OH; cousins, Emma Lindsey, Betty Trammell, Willie Bell Heard, West Point, GA; and Elizabeth Walker, Valley, AL; his caregivers, Mattie Trammell, Patricia Sutton, West Point, GA; Veronica Sherman, Lanett, AL and a host of other relatives and friends.
