His Life
November 7, 2014

Willie Joe Jackson “Brotoe” was born on February 8, 1923 to the late Savannah and January Jackson in Fitzpatrick, Alabama. He had seven siblings; James Jackson (the late Ruth) lives in Florida; six siblings preceded him in death. He was united in holy matrimony to Bessie Jackson and to this union ten children were born. He was later united with Mrs. Ethel who had five children.

Willie Joe was a God fearing man who loved the LORD. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at an early age at the Greenwood Missionary Baptist Church and he later became a Deacon of Greenwood.

Willie Joe enlisted in the US ARMY in 1943 and served through World War II. Willie Joe was well known and respected in the community; he loved to plant and grow vegetables, he would reach out and help anyone he could. He had a unique gift; he could say his ABCs faster backward than the average person could say them forward. He was a risk taker; there was nothing that was too hard for him.

After a long, full life, he departed on Sunday, November 2, 2014. He leaves to celebrate his beloved children all thirteen, Louvenia Jackson, Savannah (James) Fitzpatrick, Dorothy (Samuel) Presley, Minnie (Willie) Thomas, Tommie Lee (Casandra) Blakely, Willie (Maria)Jackson, Billie (Jacqulyn) Jackson, Sandra (Frazier) Scott, Linda Bowers, Applnella Sanders, Jerome (Pamela) Jackson, Roland Jackson, Terrence (Carolyn) Sutton; two sisters-in-law, Alice Mae Calhoun and Sally Moultrie, sixty grandchildren, 126 great-grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including a special friend, Ms. Louise Green.
