SFC Retired Willie Arthur James, Sr., known by many as “Lenny or “Bear” was called home to be with God on Thursday, June 16, 2015.

He was born February 3, 1935 to the proud parents of Neal and Mozell Cofield James.
Lenny was a product of the West Point Public School System.

Lenny was a proud member of the United States Army where he served our country for 22 years.

During his tenure in the Army, he earned numerous medals and honors including a Vietnam Service Medal with a Silver Star, Army Occupation Medal (Germany),

He also earned a National Defense Service Medal w/OLC, Bronze Star Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 device, and a host of other decorations and honors.

Having served faithfully and honorably, Lenny retired from the U.S. Army in May of 1975. Lenny had an eventful life with many blessings.

He was a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he served in several capacities including deacon for many years .

Lenny loved to fish, ride his motorcycle, fix cars, and was known for his selflessness and sacrifice to help his friends and family.

Lenny leaves to mourn his passing, Carolyn James, four loving children: Velda James, Willie Arthur James, Jr. “Arty”, Derek (Erica) James, Danielle James, two sisters: Lucille James and Katie (William) Palmer, three grandchildren: Dee Dee James, Tangi James, and Daiden James,
three great-grandchildren: Jaizon James, Dwight Miller, and Jamiya Cobb. Lenny will be missed by his family and a host of sorrowing friends and acquaintances.
