Wyllis A. Schulz

Services for Wyllis A. Schulz, 76, Norfolk, were Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001 at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Rev. Norman Hannemann and Rev. Steve Heinsen officiated. Burial was in the Pilger Cemetery with military rites by American Legion post #16 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Winter Munson post #1644 of Norfolk.

Pallbearers were Jeremy March, Justin March, Troy Schulz, Terry Schulz, Michael Schulz, and Randy Horst.

He was born March 7, 1925, at Stanton to Arthur and Ella (Brakmann) Schulz. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pilger. He attended Stanton County Rural School District #25 and Pilger High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945-46 during World War II. On March 5, 1947, he mar­ried Vernita Horst at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, rural Wisner. The couple farmed north of Pilger, mov­ing to Norfolk in 1972. He was em­ployed at Mid America Dairy and then as a car salesman, retiring in 1988. He died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and served on its board of trustees and was on the Stanton County Rural School District #25 School Board.

Surviving are a son Gerry and wife Carolyn Schulz of Pilger; daughter Becky and husband Rev. Richard Pinkerton of Alamosa, CO; five grandchildren; four great-grandchil­dren; a brother and his wife, Delvin and Maxine Schulz of Norfolk.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 1996, and one grandson.
