Why?!

October 29, 2014

My favorite story of Yilmaz is only a good story if you knew him and his subtleties...which, I guess, most of you know. When I first got to know Yilmaz was on a visit to see us in Denver , CO. As you might know, our home is very centrally located close to the Cherry Creek trail. One beautiful fall day, during his visit, he observed me putting on my cycling gear and preparing for a ride. No bags. No work-related items, no change of clothes to be seen.

'Where are you going, Aaron, with such an outfit?'

Oh, just out to the resi and back...won't be long.

Confused. 'Why do you ride there? For work? To a meeting? To accomplish a goal?'

Nope. Just to get a ride in. The sun, the breeze, the heart pump. I guess.

Riding somewhere for such trivial meaning was as foreign to him as a south Florida widow who didn't dance.

Engineer. Hard-working. Self-made. All makes sense.

Miss you, Yilmaz.
