This memorial website was created in the memory of Lance Cpl. Zachary D. Smith, born on April 2, 1990 and passed away on January 24, 2010 while service his Country. We will remember him forever. A Husband, Son, Brother, Solider, Friend, but most of all a Hero in some many's eyes. A special annual event was created in honor of Zachary, The Purple Ribbon Memorial held in December through January, from the time he was deployed to the time he was killed.
This website is dedicated to the entire Smith Family and to the Hornell Community!

Song playing in the back ground: "Gone to soon"
Zach was so outgoing when he was little, and never outgrew it. Zach loved people and loved to help in anything that needed to be done. If he got something in his head, he wasn't happy until it was done. -Kim Smith, Zach's Mother
Kim Smith----one very proud mother of a beautiful child that went to Heaven before me. And 2 more that I am so proud of everything they do, they have been dealt a rough hand, but they are holding their heads high and living their lives and keeping Zach close to their heart at all times...…I am truly blessed to have a wonderful husband and our kids to spend the rest of our lives with…here and in heaven. “A family is a Journey to Forever”.
The 4th Annual Purple Ribbon Memorial Begins December 1, 2013
"Zach will Never be Forgotten!! He lives on through all his Family, Friends and Fellow Marines!!! Thank You for your Ultimate Sacrfice! My Prayers are always with the Smith Family!! Semper Fi and 1/6 Hard"
It was a pleasure designing this website. A website where everyone can come to and pay tribute to your son, and an American Hero.
The Purple Ribbon Memorial I plan on launching in Dec."
As a another Gold Star Mom I cannot even begin to tell you how much this means to the Smith family, other Gold Star families and past present and future military personnel. As a Gold Star Mom, my biggest fear was that my son would be forgotten. Your an angel on earth for our angels in heaven."
"Ben, thank you so much for making this beautiful website of our Zach....you amaze me. Thank you for the purple ribbon tribute that you started in his memory. We are touched with the special things that people have done to keep Zach alive. You are an angel on Earth...and I thank God for you to keep my baby alive.....thank you from the bottom of my broken-heart."
