Fat Tuesday, Today I would have received a phone call from my old friend Zac Weddle to enjoy my Fat Tuesday. I have spent a couple of them with him in the years past working at the fire station. This is the first year my phone did not ring with his voice at the other end. As you all may know he lost to cancer after a long hard fight.

Today, just as I was thinking of how I would have LOVED to have heard his voice, my phone rang….. When I answered I heard “ Happy Fat Tuesday!” It was his wife…. As much as I miss him, there is no way it could measure to how much she misses him, I’m sure. Thanks to her I have tears in my eyes and the love for him in my heart…

Thanks babe, I needed that today! NINO

From KCFD F.A.O. Mark Gunter: "11 years ago I thought I had met the grumpiest man I knew. Eventually I figured that his bark was worse than his bite. I'm glad to say that I had the pleasure to become his friend, and I'm thankful that he shared his wisdom and experience that helped me become a better firefighter. I will miss my friend. R.I.P. Zachary Weddle"

Big heart and Loyal friend. From a decade of Chiefs tailgates and mtg up early every Sunday, to Royals games, card playing, margarita making, tubing and skiing and boatin', from Blue Springs Lake, Smithville and Pomme, to eatin' at all Nick's restaurants, dinners out, early morning Saturday phone calls to see what's up for the weekend, running in the Susan Komen's race and pointing at the pot holes as we ran, to celebratin' birthdays, New Year's, Buffet concerts and more...fun times, fun memories, you have truly blessed our lives. Thanks Zac for teaching us all how to LIVE in this life.
