The story of her life is so rich, and so complex, that it is nearly impossible to summarize it in such a short text. Mama was a fierce woman. She was strong, independent, and commanded attention and respect wherever she landed. Can you imagine going blind as a teenager? Neither can I. Can you imagine being pregnant as a teen with your first child, bringing the baby to full term, going through labor, and delivering your child only to send him to God 15 hours later? And then, after grieving, and adjusting to having only four senses, you develop Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and other psychological and medical conditions to live with? But still she persevered! Next, your four children are taken away from you, and you watch two husbands die. When will it be enough? Through all of this she still had the biggest smile, the most impressive laugh, and the greatest ability to forgive and love. That was her life. That is who she was. A survivor!
