Abigail Aileen Schmader, 17, passed away Tuesday morning, February 20, 2018, at UPMC Children’s Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Abbey was born February 12, 2001, in Warren, PA, to Jodie Davidson Schmader and Dale Schmader, Jr. She was a junior at Sheffield High School and an active member of the Sheffield United Methodist Church. She can most be remembered by her “contagious” smile. Through all the struggles she endured, she always came through them smiling. Among her interests was her love for animals especially horses. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing volleyball as well as watching her cousin, Quinn. She was blessed with a huge heart and communicated with many others with the same illness by reaching out to them.

In addition to her parents, Abbey is survived by her sister, Allison, at home. Also surviving her are her maternal grandfather, Raymond Davidson, Sheffield and her paternal grandparents, Dale Schmader, Sr. and Patricia Schmader as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorials for Abbey may be made to CureSearch for Children’s Cancer at curesearch.org or may be sent to CureSearch for Children’s Cancer, 4600 EastWest Highway, Suite 600, Bethesda, MD 20814.
