A Life Well Lived

June 20, 2022
Abdulrahman Saud Al-Humaidan, 92, of northern Saudi Arabia, passed away on February 15, 2022, from complications of dementia.

Abdul was born about 1929 to Saud Abdulaziz Al-Humaydan and Shaha Jasem.  After completing primary school, Abdul worked as a medic for a British oil company.  This is where he was beginning to learn the English language. He would later serve in the Saudi Air Force, receiving training in the US.  Abdul respected the ideals of democracy and hoped to raise his family where they would be free.  In 1954 he applied for citizenship in America and joined the US Air Force.  He proudly served eight years as a structural repairman of high-performance aircraft, ending his service with honors and good conduct recognitions.  Much of his career was in the field of insurance. Other career moves always included servicing the public.  Later he completed his Associate's Degree from Texas Southmost College of Brownsville.

In 1955, Abdul met Irma Pauline Martin in Amarillo, Texas. They soon married and were transferred to Evreux Air Force Base, in Normandy 60 miles northwest of Paris.  This is where they started their family, thereafter moving about the US and settling in Texas.  Abdul and Irma enjoyed the military life, its security and order, its opportunities for travel, and learned appreciation for other cultures.

Abdul enjoyed the pleasures of life by connecting with his Islamic faith, sharing the company of people from all walks of life, savoring ethnic foods and sweets, traveling, gardening, wildlife, and creating from his workshop. He remained 39 years old in his heart and mind, joking and staying adventurous.  If there was a bargain to be had, Abdul would make the most of it.  Abdul was a family man and enjoyed time with his cousins, nieces, and nephews, but mostly being surrounded by his immediate family.

Abdul was predeceased by his parents, brother Mohammad, sister Lulu, and daughters Senea and Suhaila. He is survived by his wife Irma, sister Husa, children Cenna, Kendy, and Amera, his grandchildren Shana, Cassie, Elise, Ashley, Karim, Ramzi, Ethan,  Mohammad Lamin, Ahmed, and Hedaya, his great-grandchildren Jaycie, Michael, Silas, Anah, Yosef, and Alena, and his extended family Laila, Darrel, Michael, and Joe.

Abdul is interred at the Al-Firdous Islamic Garden at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas.

The family of Abdul would like to thank the loving angel care providers at Lighthouse Lodge Care Services, Rahma Funeral Home, and most importantly, the Islamic Association of Mid Cities for your contributions, kindness, prayers, and family support.
