ko si part 2

Like an ominous storm, it keeps getting closer. And closer. You watch as its dark clouds strike a scary span and block the sunny skies. This is bound to be one helluva fearsome storm!
Long time back, in '87 or '88, together we packed all his belongings from his parents home in UI into my Panel Van (Shalake) and headed to Lagos. He lived with me and we set up a flourishing business. An outstanding artist was he.
Many years later, shortly after my relocation, the country fell into the grips of a financial nightmare. Stocks crashed, earnings plummeted, hope despaired, destinies destroyed. Highly reputable people who, erstwhile would drop a few hundred grand in advance when they brought their cars for repairs, would now ask to fix their cars on credit. And thereafter no longer pick my calls. It became an obvious deduction that my business would go under. And it did. The flood came, almost taking me with it. I ended up bankrupt and couldn't even pay my rent.
He took me in. Having gone back to Ibadan, one of the 4 rooms in his house became my new cabino. And it was during my spell with him, ruminating over my calamity, at a stop over at his brother-in-law's office that I found me a Good Thing. The Joy of my life. Of course, he became the godfather of my First Seed.
He took ill in January. Then got better. The doctor said it was the flu coupled with stress of work. Yet he took the pains to be on top of steam inhalation treatments.
So, why did his last bus stop have to come upon him so quickly? Why did he have to be found on the floor in his room, gasping for breath? Why drop dead on Friday the 12th? Why? Why? Why?
One thing we can all agree on is that your date of departure happens to be just like you; a typographical design or artform that may be read not only in its form as presented, but also from another viewpoint, direction, or orientation. Both a palindrome and an ambigram! A date that can be read from left to right, from right to left and also upside down! However you read it, it's still the same!
