DADDY, today you would have been 80 years old!
I am very thankful for the times we shared together.
The good times and the not so good times.
Through thick and thin, you were there for us.
You were truly blessed as you witnessed constant progress, landmark birthdays, different phase graduations of your children and grandchildren up to masters degree levels, marriages of your children...
For these, TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!
I will never stop confessing to the fact that you were an extraordinary father. You loved unconditionally and served with so much joy.
Heaven certainly won additional joy, upon your arrival.
You are in my mind today as always.

TRIBUTE TO MY FATHER IN LAW.

We lost a rare gem on January 17th, 2016.
Papa Adedayo Christopher Adegbaiye was very important to me, my wife Yetunde, and our daughter Titilope.
With 77 years under his belt, his mind was still as sharp as a razor.
A man of wisdom and knowledge built on his faith in God.
A well-educated man, who earned the respect of the people around him.

He could talk to anyone and be able to read them like a book from cover to cover almost immediately.

He treated everyone the same way whether important or not.
A very unique being, who lived his life plain and simple, always full of smiles.
Very anxious and excited to share his belief, faith, his church, his home and very important, love with everyone.
You shall forever be missed.
Rest in peace Papa, until we meet to part no more at the bosom of the Lord.

Sweet dad! Daddy, also known by others as daddy America was a loving, funny, caring, nice person who kept people busy with full attention.

Early memories of him depict pleasures to remember. When he arrived from Lagos where he worked at the time at (NIM) he knew how to reach us and fill out the gap of his absence for the week. It was a routine. He would order a crate of Coca-Cola and suya, and we will all eat and merry keeping us busy as earlier mentioned. This is where my sister Bola got her love for suya and coke from. He would rub us in the back, scratch our heads and make us struggle over each other for him.

Candy was his tool for reinforcing us.

At dinner time he had another routine. He would dip his spoon in everyone’s plate to have a share of our food. Everything about dad is sweet. He hates bitterness. I remember if he had malaria and had to take nivaquine, it was a funny nightmare for us all. He would hold the nivaquine for more than 10 minutes with a scared and bitter face, then request for oranges, coke and even granulated sugar to use after taking the bitter medicine. This is how lighthearted daddy lives his life. When leaving he would give us 1 kobo each for treats in his absence.

Curiosity was another attribute of dad. He would ask questions like did you go to church, what did they preach and ask what color of clothes the pastor wore to confirm you made it to church.

Daddy was very accommodating. He allowed uncountable extended members of family to live with us as his own children. There was never a time; just our nuclear family was under the roof.

When I was in college, everyone knew my dad. He would associate with all my friends and roommates, lecturing them on life skills. I would be told my dad is here from the gate, because everyone knew him.

Up till death, daddy was willing to do anything that will make life fun and easy for you. He would walk Titilope to the bus stop as a measure of his support for her.
My father loved the Lord from the bottom of his heart and showed this in every way possible. He cut out checks for ministries worldwide to support the spread of the gospel. He would not leave any stone unturned when it came to God. He preached the word and evangelized at ease.

Daddy my prayer for you is that you will rest in peace till we meet again.
Kudos for all you have done for me.

Yetunde for daddy

DADDY, AS WE USED TO CALL DEACON ADEDAYO CHRISTOPHER ADEGBAIYE WAS SOMEONE FOR WHOM I HAD A LOT OF LOVE AND RESPECT. A GREAT FAMILY MAN AND A VERY ACCOMODATING AND UNASSUMING GENTLEMAN. HE WAS A FATHER FIGURE TO MOST OF US, THE YOUNGER OLUFOSOYES, AS MOST OF OUR VACATIONS WERE SPENT WITH THE ADEGBAIYES, EVEN AT THEIR TINY APARTMENT AT IMMANUEL COLLEGE OF THEOLOGY CAMPUS UPON THEIR ARRIVAL FROM THE UNITED STATES IN THE 70S, AND ON TO THEIR ABODE AT CHALLENGE, WHERE WE WERE ALWAYS WELCOMED. NO VACATION IS COMPLETE WITHOUT OUR GATHERING AT THE ADEGBAIYES' PLACE, WHICH WAS A SORT OF DELIGHT FOR WE HOLIDAY MAKERS.
DADDY WAS A VERY JOVIAL MAN, AND HE CAN THROW BANTERS AT ANYONE TO CREATE A RELAXING ATMOSPHERE, BUT YOU DO NOT TAKE HIS GENTILITY FOR GRANTED AS YOU MAY BE TONGUE-LASHED FOR STEPPING OUT OF BOUNDS.
ON THE LIGHTER SIDE, I MISSED THE OPPORTUNITY OF INFORMING HIM OF THE NICKNAME WE, THE BOYS, GAVE HIM WHILE RESIDING AT THE BODIJA BISHOPSCOURT BACK IN THE DAY, WHEN WE USED TO REFER TO HIM AS THE BISHOP OF KOTANGORA WITHOUT HIS KNOWING. SINCERELY, I CAN'T RECOLLECT HOW WE CAME ABOUT THE ALIAS, BUT IT SURELY STUCK.
DADDY ADEGBAIYE CAME, SAW AND CONQUERED. HIS LEGACIES SHALL LIVE LONG AFTER HIM, WHILE HE LIVES ON FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS. SWEET IS THE MEMORY OF THE RIGHTEOUS. CERTAINLY, A GALLANT CHRISTIAN SOLDIER HAS DEPARTED THIS TRANSITORY LIFE AND GONE HOME TO REST.

TRIBUTE TO LATE MR. ADEDAYO ADEGBAYE.

You lived a very adventurous and courageous life. Your devotion to a christian way of living was manifest in your relationships with relations, friends and people generally. You were a wonderful and loving husband and father to your wife and children. Your death has created a big void in the family. But we have the consolation that you are now in peace with the Lord. REST IN PEACE. Prof. Funso Akere

My Darling Granpa, my daddy explained to me that i will never see you again because you have gone to be with Jesus. I miss and love you because you loved me. You are my good friend because you joked with me, laughed with me and play with me always on the phone or whenever you come to our house. Where is my Grandpa that takes me to church, teaches me to pray, buys me good cloths, sends me money on my birthdays, called me Landlord, Called my brother Oluwarimisinuola- Glory to God and Called my Sister Oluwafimisinuayo- Martha.
I pray that Jesus will bless you, feed you and Keep you Grandpa!

I love you so much Grandpa.

Enjoy your stay with Jesus.

Daddy Daddy,

The first thing that came to my mind as I type on my keyboard was you walking in tall through the front door of our home in challenge area of Ibadan spotting on your french suit, good leather shoes and fresh scented fragrance after a long work week at your station to spend the weekend with us. And I remember my responsibility as a little boy then was to untie your shoes, jump on the couch and unknot your tie and receive the usually big suya pack meant for our Family.

As a young Man you taught me never to be found wanting in the service of God and to serve and love God dearly. You seeked and searched for the knowledge of God in his scriptures where ever and when ever. You wanted to know more about God and feared to offend God. You where a true Christ Comrade.

You were intellingent, good with words, Frank, humble and very jovial.

You always advocated for a clean shaven, no necklace wearing ADEWALE and I am happy I honoured you with that when we received your body back home to Nigeria from France.

And anytime I need to see you alive again all I need to do is smile at a mirror and that is you right there smiling back at me. Now i see reasons why God left a copy of your face right here on my face in order to keep us together forever.

I thank God for giving me and my Family the opportunity to care for you till the very end Dad.

And now that you won your Christian race, I heartily congratulate you my brother and father! Enjoy your primary responsibility of praising God in Heaven. DO NOT SLEEP ON DAD! PRAISE ON!

Miss you more per second Dad!

Goodnight Jiganinuade.

Odole of Paradise.

Your friend, brother and only Son.

Christopher Adedayo Adegbaiye Joins the Church Triumphant

Paul the Apostle in his letter to the Thessalonians says:

“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.” ( 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14)

It is therefore with gratitude to the Almighty God for a life well spent that we learnt of the passing unto glory of our Brother, Mr. Christopher. I like to admonish his dear life, his children, his grandchildren, the entire extended family members and friends to take solace in the message of God written in the Book of Isaiah chapter 41 verse 10 which says:
“So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
May the Soul of the departed Mr. Christopher Adedayo Adegbaiye, by the mercy of God Rest in Perfect Peace. Amen.

The end of a thing is better than the beginning. Dayo joined our large family when he married our sister, Margaret. We thank God for the union and the products that came out of it. Dayo became our brother, we loved him and he loved us. Dayo was a man who did whatever he did with all this strength. He loves all our children and would ask after them frequently. He was very jovial and had the heart of a child. He was born into Christianity but had a rebirth when he dug deep into the word of god. Thereafter, he took it upon himself to preach the gospel and live by it. Bam Gbaye, as I called him later in his lifetime, worked relentlessly in the Lord’s vineyard, which is the world. He did his discipleship when he chose to unite joy and vigor. The angels of God would have received him with joy. Dayo was a loving and caring husband. He loved his children and doted on them and his grandchildren. Dayo did his best and I am sure his sleep will be sweet. Sleep on beloved.

When we are asked to leave a tribute about someone who has transformed from this life to the next, we have to search for good things to say, however this is not the case when it comes Daddy America (as I usually called him), because he truly lived a selfless, Christ-like, caring, authentic with a good sense of humour, daddy you are a paragon worthy of emulation. Therefore, words of praise comes easily.
Daddy love everyone to come to the knowledge of Christ as their personal saviour. Daddy America left a gift of humility, love and selfless caring to all that had come in contact with him. He served God with all his heart. A man of principle, daddy tenaciously committed himself to the principle of the world of God and lived a life of uprightness. He was a man of truth, who always stood by what he believed.
Daddy it is not goodbye, it is good night. You have rested from your labour of love and have entered into your reward. You are walking on the golden street. We shall see you in the morning, in the land where we will never grow old. Daddy sun re o!

Daddy was a very fine gentleman. I have very fond memories of our times together when we would just sit for several minutes and enjoy lovely conversations either in Ibadan or when he came to alagos to visit Rotimi and Bimbo. He was a youth at heart and I used to admire that quality a lot. He would discuss contemporary issues as if we were the same age bracket. He was such a delight to be with. I thank God for his life and trust that God will be with Mummy for the rest of her life. We will surely miss him

The shock that greeted the news of the demise of daddy is such that words cannot explain. It jolted every minister in the church when I painfully disclosed same to them. There are a million and one things to be said but can't find a way of stringing them together. Daddy is such that falls into the category of the rare breeds by his demonstration of love, affection, humility, consideration, meekness, love for God and focus on eternity. Your transition was too sudden for me, but I take consolation in what is written in Isaiah 57:1- 2 The righteous man perishes, and no man takes it to heart; And devout men are taken away, while no one understands. For the righteous man is taken away from evil,He enters into peace; They rest in their beds, Each one who walked in his upright way. Rest in peace daddy. I will sorely miss you.

I can truly say that Daddy Adedayo was a great example of a man of the most High God. His presence brought peace and comfort; without having to say a word, his smile imparted many words of encouragement and kindness. I appreciate and admire the sincere love and leadership with which he embraced his family and extended family and friends. Though his departing will forever leave an empty space in our hearts for him being dearly missed, his legacy and the love and character he built within will always be shared and recognized in the lives that he inspired to be better persons. I know this is not a final goodbye! Daddy Adedayo is in heaven fulfilling an even greater purpose and we will all see him and have the opportunity to tell him "thank you" again! I am honored to be a part of his celebration of life and wish the peace of God which passes all understanding on all whom he loved and that love him so dearly.

"I received the news of Daddy Adegbaiye's passing on with mixed feelings. Even though I don't see him often anymore (the last time being at Daddy's 75th and Mummy's 70th), I still remember him as that loving father who cared so much about his daughter who was my friend and extended this love to even us her friends. I remember our University days how daddy would come to visit Bimbo in Unilag then and wait for hours to see her until she finished her lectures. Daddy didn't mind sitting in front of a female hostel all day waiting to see his precious daughter. He was such a kind man. Even whenever I saw him 1st and suggested to go call Bimbo from class, he would say NO, I should let her finish that he would wait. I use to marvel at his patience and show of affection. He would always ask me questions to ascertain all was well. The news of his death came as a rude shock but I know he has gone to rest and he is definitely in a better place. May his gentle soul rest in the bossom of the Lord. Adieu Daddy Adegbaiye "

I thank God Almighty that the last time we met in December, you were full of life & joyful. I didn't know it was a final farewell.

You carried 'Thank God' in your arms, you loved children with passion, you were caring & affectionate, you gave them pet names.

You lived a well celebrated and exemplary life. For your wife and children your departure is still a dream. It's as if you are on a regular journey yet to return. But the reality is you have joined the saints triumphant at His bosom, a better place.

You left a legacy of salvation that is worth emulation for all.
Sleep on beloved Brother Dayo, you shall be greatly missed.

BROTHER- MOST HONOURABLE!

“Thou know'st 'tis common; all that lives must die,
Passing through nature to eternity.”
-William Shakespeare

Your transition came as a shock to me.
Your life was a blessing and you lived an exemplary life. Your devotion to God was exceptional; you showed kindness and love to all.
God Himself who knows all things took you from us.
We know that you are now resting in that “Blessed Country”.

You live on in our hearts!

His time came and indeed there was nothing left for him to do but to die; and die he did valiantly!

Daddy Adegbaiye, Sun re o

This is an ode to a great man whose strength was in his quietness. Your time was up! All alone you breathed our air one more time, then you closed your eyes, only to open them in glory with splendour untold
On the streets of gold!

How true is the hymn 'the day thou gavest Lord is ended, the darkness falls at thy behest

Oluwa ojo to fun wa pin, Okunkun si ti de l'ase re..'

But you have arisen into a dawn without sunset
How true is the hymn – Laalaa Alagbase Tan, Ojo Oogun ti pari
The days of travail are far spent – The Master is now giving you your deserved rest

Daddy I am persuaded that you would have heard the greatest anticipation of every believer in Christ 'Well done thou worthy and faithful servant'… from the Master’s lips

Therefore we celebrate you with heaven. It’s Coronation time in heaven and true to your earthly name ….Ade ti d’Ayo.

You were allowed some 28,105 days on this side of eternity. You have traded them very well without regrets. You counted every day and made every day count
Even in your dying days as you shed this earthly garb all alone in faraway Paris, yet you teach still two eternal truths

on the brevity and vanity of life.
‘He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose’

Your accolades are now trailing you.Goodness and Mercy are both trailing you. You are celebrated and now adorned as one of heaven’s latest generals

Therefore, let us grieve not that he is no more, But REJOICE that he was !
Reign on with our Captain, Daddy Adegbaiye, this world of ours is no longer worthy of you! The New Jerusalem beckoned and heaven said a loud Amen

Pray that thy last days, and last words may be the best; and that when thou comest to die, thou mayest have nothing else to do but die – V. Powell

Grandpa, you had the strongest spirit I've ever seen--and, to this day, I'm sure it's still as strong, if not even more.

You were always full of life and weren't afraid to share it with others. One thing I always will remember is your distinct laughter.

You enjoyed to joke around and your youth truly shined in that way. Although you enjoyed teasing me, I'm a hundred percent sure it was out of love.

You liked to see the best in people, and when they didn't live up to that standard you always made sure to point it out. It was not out of malice, but of concern.

You were definitely a curious man. Anytime I would watch something, you'd always tell me to turn it up so you could also watch. Even after retirement, you still wanted to learn for learning's sake. To me, this is one of the greatest qualities a man can have: a burning passion for knowledge. Grandpa, I am sure your passion still burns strong.

Love you, and may the Lord bless your soul.

I bless God for the life of our dear father. Daddy, though you will be greatly missed, I am also certain that you are currently resting comfortably in the bosom of our Lord. You were a giant of faith who fought tenaciously in prayer for those things that you cared about. You prayed faithfully for years for my family regarding a situation that even we were not sure of ever having a positive outcome. You would declare with absolute confidence that God would bring a major turnaround . We watched in amazement as your declaration came to be in a remarkably short time! You taught me that the faith of one who is willing to stand with God is infinitely more powerful than the doubt of many . You completed your God given assignment with honors! I imagine the host of heaven saluting to welcome the General home! We all celebrate a life well lived. I pray that the Holy Spirit will comfort Mummy and all your loved ones in this trying time. Rest in peace Daddy, till we meet again. We love you.

Grandpa,
You were truly my favorite human being.
You always had a smile on your face, always knew how to make a bad moment turn into a funny joyous moment, and always cared for all of us.
Words can't describe how much I love and miss you!! You were my best friend and I could tell you anything without being ashamed.
I loved the way you always tried to make me better and taught me all you could.
I will miss all the sweet things you did for me and all the amazing funny stories you told me.
I just wish I could say bye one last time and feel so bad it had to end like this. You are truly missed and will be forever in My Heart. I LOVE YOU with all my Heart and I am glad you don't have to endure all this life's suffering anymore because you are in a better place.
I can't wait to see you again in heaven (:❤

Grandpa Our Rare Gem

February 5, 2016

You  are truly a great gem,

You overflow with so much love and ingenuity. Thanks for been a beacon of light and joy that brightens up our lives

I remember how you gave oluwatobiloba the name 'Thank God' unusual but it was out of the fullness of your gratitude to God. Am glad I had the opportunity to spend valuable time with you. You are truly a loving Father and Grandpa

I remember you at the sink washing your plate- so down to earth and humble a truly example of how we should live our lives.

I remember how you would call to check on me and send gifts to 'Thank God' You loved God and lived out the love of God in its entirety.

Grandpa, we all love you so much and you will be truly missed but your beautiful SMILE, your selflessness  and your words of counsel will always be remembered for good.

Love from Adeniyi, Adetola and Thank God

Our college days

January 31, 2016

We remember how you used to visit us in our various universities and sat in our hostels waiting for us to come back from classes.  You will inquire from the porters about our movements and would take us out to eat.

You were a friend father.

We love you so much!!!
