One of the earliest memories my siblings and I could agree on for Mama was when she would come over to visit us in Boston. All the younger Boston
grandchildren (my siblings and I/ Uncle George's kids) would gather and be placed under her care while our parents would go about their day. With a sweet smile that stretched from ear to ear, she would place us into the dining room and tell us to wait for real food. You see, she was not really a fan of junk food and the likes.
Real food meant pounded yam and ogbono soup. My cousin Ike fondly called it "slimy soup ". I for one was not too crazy about pounded yam growing up- I preferred rice or pizza. I remember pouting one time she asked us to wait. I asked Mama, "Why do we always eat this? Can't we eat something else?" She responded with a
poke of my belly, "This is food for royalty." Now, that got everyone's attention.
All our little ears perked up and looked at her for more information. She told us we were and always will be royalty. Back home in Nigeria , we were princesses and princes. Everybody ate their food that day oh! and that became a regular conversation between us. I would always ask her to remind us of our royal status. I also did not hesitate to tell all my friends at school the following week. Mama would remind me with a smile that I am her "princess" and she would proceed to shower many blessings on my head. Every time I think of the times I spent with Mama; I only have fond memories of her. Not once did I ever have a bad experience with her. She treated my siblings and I with attention and care: she would handle my sister Chidinma's tantrums with grace , my brother Joshua would always run and tattle to her (placing the rest of us children in trouble) and she would converse with me, telling all sorts of sweet stories my brain could not comprehend at the time . And as she would tell us we are royalty, as a child I saw her as a Queen. And now our sweet Queen Mama has gone to join the true royalty in heaven. My heart is at peace because I know she is where she belongs , receiving all the love , care, and attention she once gave to our fa mily. Continue to rest in heavenly peace Mama.

Tribute to our Lady Grandma, your demise came as a shock to me. I still picture you as the strong and beautiful grandma who took so much pride in her
looks and appearance. I recall at 5yrs old and how you took me on walks, and you held my hand having such a big smile as you told stories. I also recall being in awe of your tattoos and thought you were cool like that. You were such a LADY GRANDMA.
Sadly, I do not have recent memories of you seeing I saw you last in 2010 however you remain special in my heart. Thinking back now, I wish I got to know you better nonetheless, I cherish the times shared Rest well grandma.

Mama's Girl Growing up there are few things and fewer people that are so assured in our lives and so over time, our
brains slowly make them a constant. For example, on Saturdays in our house I knew my whole day would be spent in the kitchen -one pot of soup was never enough for my mother. But I also knew that by mid-afternoon a loud "Kim baby mi" would ring and that would be my excuse out of the kitchen.
Mama was here! Growing up when my grandma came visiting,
I was sure of three things: a bag of green apples, a bottle of "mineral" and some pocket money. She would squeeze five crisp ten naira notes into my hand before my father saw and complained.
She believed everyone should have a little something in their pockets. Mama was a giver. Growing up Mama made it her duty to educate us on our family history. As children we would sit cross legged at her feet listening till our ears got full and our eyes got huge as she  narrated events past. Where our fathers came from, what they had faced and all that they had overcome. It was from her that I came to know my name Kimekwu was originally my late grandfather's name.

Mama was an orator. Growing up there were hardly any conversations I had with my grandma that did not end with her blessing me and my sisters. She had such a conviction that the children of lrabor would do well. We would all survive; we would all be great by the grace of God . Mama was a believer. I never dreamed that I would be sitting here teary-eyed writing a tribute to my grandma. Alas, there is a Yoruba adage that says "ogun omode ole sere fun ogun odun" meaning twenty children cannot play together for twenty years. The reason being they grow up. Mama at some point in your eyes I must have grown up. Who will call me Kim baby mi? Who will tell me about our history? When I come to Nigeria who will make me pepper soup? Who will hug me and bless me like you? Who will squeeze money into my palms? Who will sew Ankara for me? Who will we visit on New Year's Day? Who will wipe these tears away? I must have grown up. Mama you have helped raise children who have all taken after you. I look at my sisters, cousins, uncles, aunts, and I see your soft heart, your bravery and devotion. We lrabor's are a united front because of you. It still hurts to think you are gone but when I remember our moments, I find myself smiling and sometimes laughing amidst the tears. The news of your passing broke our hearts but the love, generosity, attention, bravery, resilience, and selflessness you have shown us all mended it again . You are loved and dearly missed. Sleep well my Angel. Till we meet again in Heaven Always and forever,

Mama is my champion, she constantly reminded me to stand up straight with my shoulders back and my head straight.
MAMA is the definition of a superhero - a true matriarch. She spoke prophetically into my life and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Even as a little rebellious boy, mama found ways to teach me to be a man of character. I always felt loved with her; it was amazingly easy to believe in her because you could always see she gave us all she had. She always made sure things were good with me, always praying for me and always enriching me with words of
Wisdom. Even as an adult Mama continued to do this for me. In the
Face of catastrophe, Mama accepted the challenge and successfully raised 8 children 25 grandchildren and 4 great grandsons. She gladly accepted the daunting task of raising her 8 children as a single mother and constantly made the sacrifices that were needed to generate a close knit, loving, and God-fearing family. As she guided her family through the wilderness, she did so happily and proudly. Today, we all enjoy each other, work happily together to further our family, and continue to make her proud because of the foundation laid for us by her. She will always be our pillar.

Whenever she came back home as we would run into her arms, she would dance and sing to us. She is full of love and without a shadow of doubt I knew I was loved by her unconditionally. She cleverly told me lots of stories about our family. These stories were very good for my psychic because they were often stories of how our family responded to major challenges and overcame them against all odds.

As an adult, the morals of these stories have helped me face the demand of life voluntarily and help me develop an attitude to always stand straight and never shrink in the face of adversity. It has helped me to step forward to take my place and boldly accept the responsibility of life. I say all of this with a very heavy heart because I know her body did not make it, but I know she is in a better place because she had a close relationship with Christ.

With this understanding it gives me comfort, but it still hurt very much to know I will not see her beautiful face or hear her warm, comforting and encouraging voice. I thank God for her life, and I know her legacy in my life will continue and that is why I speak of her in the present tense. I always wished a lot of things were a little different, I wish I were by her side during her last days,

I wish I could eat all her food again (although they are quite spicy) I wish I could give her a very BIG LONG hug and tell her how much I love her. I wish I could give her a kiss on her check and tell her she will be fine. There are so many things, but I know our heavenly Father knows best, I know he has a plan. I know that she is dead in the flesh but made alive in the spirit through Christ her Lord and redeemer. I know she will live on in our hearts and our journey on earth is a noticeably short one compared to eternity. Thank you all.

Mama D mama, words can not describe how much I miss you. You are really a mother indeed. A mother that single handed raised seven sons and a daughter. You are a mother that all mothers should emulate. You taught me the importance of prayer because I saw the way you prayed for your children. You took your time to pray for each of them and lifted them up before God to protect and guide them. I see the labor of your prayer in full expression in the life of my husband and the produce of your travail in prayers are evident in our lives today. I remembered when you told me that my husband will be a pastor and I will pastor along side with him, I didn't take it serious at that time but today, what you prophesied is now in fruition. Thank you for your support, your prayer and words of encouragement. Mama, you will be greatly be missed and I know that you in the blooms of the Lord. Rest In Peace mama until we meet again.

Mother never walks in anyone's shadow. She made her own footprints in the sand. She walked tall and with dignity. She was proud of the woman she was, and she had every right to be. She was rare breed, the truest, dearest mother and best friend
anyone could wish for, full of strength and tenacity. She was a precious gift from God, she possessed so much beauty, grace, love, and patience which touched our hearts in so many ways. We genuinely feel that words are inadequate neither are there enough superlative in English Language to describe Elder
Mrs. Agnes lrabor, my beloved mother. She was the best example of Proverbs 31; She was selfless and empowered everyone connected to her. Her sweetness radiated loveliness
to all she met, she was bold and fearless like a Lioness guarding and protecting her curbs amid opposition and like a mother Hen
shielding and defending her chicks, undaunted by the arrows released against her from every side.

My mother was a great inspiration to her children and to our family in general. She impacted the life of everyone that she came in contact, with her words of wisdom and support. I am sincerely grateful to God for the special gift of our mother, she was always supportive, ready always to give all, we are where her pride and joy, she stood beside each child, through thick and thin. I grew up with mama's love, confident in it, protected in it, and surrounded by her love and care. She was the rock of the family, the glue that kept us together and the gentle heartbeat of her children. The vacuum she left behind cannot be filled, but when I think of her, it can be with pride and yes, even with happiness; because she reaches her goals down here, but she was so special, Jesus Christ wanted her to be with Him, so He can envelop her in His Glory.

My Tribute to Mama, I really do not know what to saying because words cannot describe the kind of mother you to us and the impacts you made in us all mostly in  my life. I remembered the times I heard you and how you would always call my name,
asking God to bless Ubaka! You would weep calling my name to God, I want to say thank you. You made us live a life that is unreal, because you became our strong defender, you did everything in your power
to make sure we live and prosper. You are a great leader, you led us with godly and wise counsel, you always pointed us back to God.

You made me feel safe knowing that you would always watch my back. You are such a strong and devoted mother that greatly cares and supports all her children. Mama, I still hear your voice
calling me "Uba dem", on my birthday I waited to get a call from you as you had always done on my birthday, but did not hear from you, that
is when it dawned on me that you are now with Jesus, I will forever miss you. I love you so much, again thank you for all you did for us and I thank God for giving you a well deserving Rest in His blossom. Mama rest till we meet again at the feet of Jesus Christ. I will always love you.

Her Life

Biography

March 2, 2021

EIder Mrs. Agnes Wariomo lrabor (Nee Akogor) was born on the 28th of October 1939 in

former Mid-Western Region, now Delta State. She was the second child of her Mother. She was born into Pa Egbai Akogor's family in Aligwe, Owa Alero, Delta State. She was married to Late Christopher Kimekwu lrabor, for 30 years. Their marriage was blessed with nine children- Six of whom survive her today and Twenty-five grand - children with Four great grand - children. She had her early education in Kano Northern Part of Nigeria where she sojourned with her eldest Brother- Mr. Joel Akogor and had to return to her hometown when her Brother was transferred back to the South.Upon arriving in Lagos with her husband, she worked at Thomas Wyatt Nigeria and she was very prudent and saved her salary with which she commences petty trading. Being a very industrious and enterprising person, her small business blossomed and expanded into wholesale dealership businesses. Elder Mrs Agnes lrabor was an excellent mother not only to her biological children but to their friends, family members and even the youth in the community she lived.

This remarkable motherly attribute earned her the name "Mama" which everyone fondly called her! Mama was very kindhearted and loved everyone around her. She enjoyed interacting with those in her Community and this was extremely easy for her as she spoke at least four Nigerian languages fluently, Ibo, Hausa, Yoruba and her native lka dialect. Mama was often called Mama Sunday (name of her late Son) however, to many, she was also known as Mama Charles, a name ascribed to her, because of her motherly philanthropy care to her community. Her personality as a companionate Mother to all around her naturally lead her into Politics, she grew to be a Woman Leader in the lfelodun local government Area in Sura/Alaba, a position she held briefly as she opted out of Politics on personal volution. Mama always stood for the right of the less privileged and justice was her hallmark. Everywhere she found herself she always had something to offer to the advantage of those around her. For, it is not how long one lives but how well.

Mama used every minute of her sojourn on earth wisely and well. Mama lived a very fruitful life that benefited all who were fortunate enough to encounter her. Everywhere she went and everything she touched, she left better than she found them. She added and never subtracted. She made and never destroyed. Her light consistently shone, and the darkness could never comprehend nor extinguish it. Mama was a woman of faith, a prayer warrior, one who belief in the power of prayer, she strongly believed that one with God is a majority. So, she fought and won many battles in the arena of prayer. Mama will be remembered for her kindness, for her efforts to always be her brother's keeper and her strong resolve to be a mother par excellence -as she lovingly and single handedly brought up all her children upon the demise of her beloved husband over thirty-five years ago. Mama you may be gone but your legacy lives on in the hearts of the many lives You touched. We shall miss you, Mama. We are proud and honored to say that you raised us with love and that we love you, but God loves you More. Mama You are the best!!!! Adieu Mama!!!!
