Childhood

July 10, 2014

Ahja was born at home in Ann Arbor on June 22, 1980 to her mother Pat Kramer and father Ron Zang.

She lived in Manchester, MI for most of her childhood. Living out in the country, she chased cats, played with her puppy Tootsie, went swimming in the pond with her little brothers Adam and Martin, ate every single cookie that her Grandma Zang baked for her, co-captained her Grandpa Kramer's boat with her cousins, showcased her talent at piano recitals, stuck out her tongue when hitting a softball, watched Beverly Hills 90210 with rapt attention, sang New Kids on the Block songs with her friends, and not only used her oratorical skills to represent her junior high at a state speech competition but also to convince her parents that she needed a second phone line,

In high school, Ahja was a cheerleader, track and cross country runner, class president, and Manchester Fair Queen. Her Grandpa Zang summed it up best when he said: "Well, ain't she beautiful."
