My Family and I feel sad at the passing on to glory of a beloved family friend. The news came to us as a rude shock whilst we were away in Wolverhampton ,England.
"Prof" as we all fondly called Akinwole showed no sign of illness. He even sent an e-mail to Busoye,one of our children to whom he was very close that he would be leaving The USA for Nigeria a day before he passed on in Nigeria because the great object of his "Vision" had been accomplished.He had secured funding for the completion of the " AFRICA CANCER RESEARCH CENTRE" Building Complex. This project was Akinwole Williams brainchild AND he had eminent Men and Women Professionals on the board of this N.G.O who have jointly been advising him and together steering the course of the project.He came home to perfect all papers and documents pertaining to the release of funds to complete the project. But unfortunately he took ill suddenly upon arrival to Nigeria and He did not make it. Very sad indeed! Because he was just at the finishing line!
Prof.is a fine man; a Gentleman The Son of a Gentleman AND a true Medical Professional who has a milk of human kindness in him.He was very Compassionate.He wants the Best for Africans and the Black race and kept on saying that he would contribute his own quota to eradicate CANCER in Africa as other Charities are doing for people in the developed Countries.He set out on this Project Injecting a lot of his own funds , Brain and Energy. AND he was a very energetic man who never Procastinate.
My Family and I would miss Prof. dearly. He wast there for us by way of advise and encouragement especially in the early days of our capital formation and Industrial establishment. He did excellently for us.He was there for our Children too by way of encouragement,and Inspirational guidance that made all of them turned out well as Professionals. This action and characteristic of Professor was not limited to our Family as many other families and Individuals have testified to His goodness and great developmental influence he had on their young ones.He just enjoyed doing good to people!!
Professor is an all rounder. He was a great and good teacher and later Professor of Medicine. Most of his Students that we came across testified to his intellect and ways of teaching students until they knew their Onions! He left a good Legacy at both The Universities of IBADAN and CALABAR as an outstanding Professor of Medicine.
Professor AKINWOLE OLUFEMI WILLIAMS was not and Ordinary man. He was a Special breed from an Illustrious Family and He is blessed with good Children both male and female at Home and abroad.All of us who are mourning his untimely departure will remember him all the time---In the Morning;at Noon and with the going down of the Sun!!!
We pray "THAT MAY THE PEACE AND MERCY OF GOD ALMIGHTY BE AND REMAIN WITH HIM IN HIS VERY DEEP SLEEP" IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR---AMEN!!!
