Al Smith, age 58, of Hammonton, NJ, transitioned on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 after a lengthy battle with colon cancer.
Al was born in Newark, NJ to the late Margaret and Albert Smith. He attended elementary and middle school in Newark. The family moved to Hammonton, NJ, where he attended high school.
After high school, Al worked in the hotel and casino industry in Atlantic City. He later used his talents as a handy man. He loved using his knowledge to repair, create, landscape and install for home and commercial improvement.
As a young man, he enjoyed fishing and especially loved being around and hanging out with his friends.
Al is survived by his son Alexis Smith, niece Debra (James) Baxter and nephew Wynton Baxter all of Winslow Twp., NJ. Also surviving is an uncle, Napoleon Smith of Dayton, OH, and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Northern NJ. Al will be missed as well by his close friends Nora and Tony Fedga of Mays Landing, NJ and Justina of Vineland, NJ. Al had many more friends whom he loved being around.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
