Albert and his first wife, Lea, adopted their children Francis and Noel in November of 1962 from Saint Ann's Orphanage in Worcester, Massachusetts when Francis was 9 years old and Noel was 7 years old. They raised their children in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Albert worked hard in the mills in Fitchburg, Massachusetts for many years to provide for his family. Albert divorced and on October 15, 1981, Albert remarried a woman named Beverly. They lived in Florida for 14 years before returning to the Fitchburg/Leominister area in 2000 to be closer to his family.

Military Career

Albert Crowley joined the Navy when he was 17 years old in 1943. He manned a cannon (Battle Station) on the Navy ships USS Luce and Chicago during World War II. When the ships were not under attack, he was a cook. The USS Luce sank on May 4, 1945 when it was attacked by Japanese suicide bombers in the Battle of Okinawa just a few days after Albert had gotten off the ship. He remained in the Navy until 1949. He was a brave sailor and very well liked by his fellow seamen. He enjoyed attending his Navy reunions.

Early Life

Albert D. Crowley was born on April 7, 1925 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a foster child. He grew up with many other foster children in the home of Celia and David Crowley in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Although the Crowleys had many other foster children, Albert was the only one they adopted.They adopted him on February 4, 1943, when he was 17 years old. His father served in World War I where he was gassed in a trench in France. Due to this, his father died at a young age from the injuries it caused to his lungs. Despite this, Albert decided to join the military, he dropped out fo high school at 17 and joined the Navy.
