Miranda, Leticia, Davina,
My mother and I are deeply moved by all your love and care for Uncle Albert. Your speeches recall his charm and kind personality. We are deeply saddened for not being here with you all at his departure. But surely we will meet again, somewhere warm and kind.

Konrad,
We are proud of you to become the man you are. Your care for Albert especially during his final years is both admirable and kind. You have brought a complete conclusion to your dad's journey. When the time is right, come back home, to Tai Lam Chung and we shall share moments of Albert's past.

With best regards,
Wong Hang Yuk and Timothy Yuen

Uncle Albert, you are a kind and genuine soul that all of us ask for. Your coolest vibe and attitude brought us so much happiness. I always admire your coolness and the amazing relationship you have with Konrad. I know you are now still shining but just in a better place. I know you will be putting your coolest sunglasses and gear and just looking down on earth and smile at us. It has been my honour to be able to meet you and know you. Rest in peace.

We will all miss you and remember the good times we had. Rest In Peace

Uncle Albert was an uncle that all kids wish to have (as he's probably cooler than any dads), but also one that all dads wish to stay away from their daughters (for his "open-minded" character:-))) Whenever he was visiting, he always had stories to tell, always something new, different and occasionally sexy:-))) He travelled quite a bit, and I remember he brought us fried teriyaki crickets once from Japan. Everyone was saying how disgusting they were, half an hour later, everyone was fighting for the last critter! He was funny, a free spirit and didn't give a damn, but deep down inside, I believe he cared.  It's true, there is not that many of us like him, and I am sure he will be missed greatly! RIP, Uncle Albert BUT keep rocking n' rolling wherever you are, thumbs up!!

“ A friend in need is a friend indeed “, Albert was a true friend

TOM JONES ? ”
Albert

Albert ,

Hello, my name is Miranda Lau.

Albert was my late husband’s David寶山 best friend since HK secondary school.
He was a man of many qualities; loyal, humorous, and optimistic.
A chatty genius, ever so friendly & sociable.

“ A friend in need  is a friend  indeed ”,  Albert  was  a  true  friend
He gave us support when my late husband passed away a few years ago,
and I am ever so grateful.
I would like to give my utmost care & help to his wife Fei & son Konrad.

He passed away peacefully at home. He had lung cancer for several years.
However he was a born fighter & managed to look after himself well.
Practicing Kung Fu made him find his own way of achieving balance in his unwell life.
This was really an art of coping with the illness while still keeping his humour to us all.

He always mentioned that he has had an extremely happy & lucky childhood.
His mother was a very career woman, looking after family households & fortunes.
His father, being a famous dutiful detective police, was well-respected by many.

Albert always said  “ I am handsome and irresistible just like Tom Jones ! ”
Not long ago, he took out an old photo from this wallet, you know who?
Wow, what a stunning natural beauty ! Your Girl friend?
Oh, it was his eldest sister back in the days, of whom he was so very proud.
Albert you proved your “claim”, all your great looks run in the family.
No wonder Konrad inherited this handsome family DNA !

He was born a healthy, cute & chubby baby, surrounded by many pretty nannies.
They all adored every bit of him.

We wish he will be reborn in another world,
that is more fun, hilarious than he had before.
Joining his parents & grandparents that he had missed dearly,
and perhaps be able to reunite with his pretty nannies !

We all love you. You are always in our hearts.
Albert, We wish you rest in Peace

Hello, we are Davina & Edwina Lau.

Uncle Albert & our father, David 寶山, have been best friends since HK secondary school.

He was a man of many qualities; notably he was loyal, chatty
& always armed with jokes. When our father spoke of their good old days,
it couldn’t be a complete story without Uncle Albert’s participation.

Uncle Albert was also a true friend to our family.
When our father passed away 4 years ago, he was there in our time of need
& reminded us of the warm friendship our father held dearly.

During his battle with lung cancer,
Uncle Albert still came to visit us & our mum Miranda to share stories over some good food.
We will forever be grateful for his kindness to our family.

Our deepest condolences go to Uncle Albert’s family,
especially to our childhood friend, Konrad, & his loving wife Fei.
We will try our best to support you through your grief of losing a loved one.

Our wish is that he will be reborn into another lifetime, full of love & laughter.

Uncle Albert, we hope you are finally at peace & reunited with your ancestors.

Thank you for being the light in our lives.

Uncle Albert always has unlimited topics to talk, being his nephew and relatively taciturn, he always cares about us no matter in family, work, or relationship matters. He gave a lot of sincere advice and suggestions, and shared a lot of his own rich experiences, and of course we all benefited from his stories. We also feel his warmness and selfless through the conversations. His special sense of humor also brings out a more relaxed atmosphere in the usual serious environment.

Uncle Albert, we will always miss you, may you rest in peace.

Hello Family and Friends,
I'm in Vancouver and thinking of my Uncle Albert. Growing up, he was always around. I remember visiting him, as a kid, with my Mom at his new apartment in Kitsilano. I remember visiting him in Edmonton and listening to his David Bowie and Roxy Music albums. I remember visiting his home at Trout Lake. I remember his big smile, big moustache and the twinkle in his eye. I remember him always cracking jokes, and the delicious fish and black bean dish he prepared for my family. I remember him always cheerful and never having a bad word about anyone or anything. I remember when he introduced his baby son, Konrad, to me. As I got older, I saw him less. But when I did see him, he was always the same person. It didn't matter what decade. He was kind, cheerful and generous. He was the proud, loving father of Konrad. He was my Mom's much-loved little brother. He was the fun, unconventional uncle who saw life in a different light than everyone else. He was unique. And I miss him terribly and wished I had told him how much I appreciated him when he was here.
Good-bye, Uncle Albert. Thank you for the good times. That's all I remember.
With love and respect,
Terry

Uncle Albert was a rock’n’roll uncle. He was a rebel, loved humming tunes, gave advice from cooking to how to flirt. He was knowledgeable and experienced in psychotherapy and he told funny stories that made one laugh to tears. Uncle Albert’s greatest joy was being a father to his son, Konrad. I will miss him dearly as I yearn to hear more of his stories of life. Transition well and Rest In Peace, dear Uncle.

First Morning - by Joy Harjo

This is the first morning we are without you on earth.
The sun greeted us after a week of rain
In your eastern green and mountain homelands.
Plants are fed, the river restored, and you have been woven
Into a path of embracing stars of all colors
Now free of the suffering that shapes us here.
We all learn to let go, like learning how to walk
When we first arrive here.
All those you thought you lost now circle you
And you are free of pain and heartbreak.
Don't look back, keep going.
We will carry your memory here, until we join you
In just a little while, in one blink of star time.

With love,
Bo Yee

good bye cool uncle albert

I was 10 and in boarding school in Macao notorious for keeping kids who were kicked out of schools in HK for fighting and other deeds.  First knife fight I ever saw was in that school, only days after I had arrived, by two older students wearing school uniform in the middle of a circle formed by their classmates.  Needless to say I did not feel safe and or secure the entire time I was attending that school.
Uncle Albert visited me there in Macao, with his funky hair and baggy pants he made quite a scene when he arrived at school to pick me up.
We went sight seeing around Macao then visited the one and only casino at the time.  I was too young to enter the gambling section of the casino so we had noodle soup in the restaurant part of the casino instead.  Unfortunately the soup was so very very spicy to a point where we both could not finish it, but we laughed and teared about how spicy the soup was, as well as to the jokes and stories Uncle Albert was telling.
That was the best day I had the entire time I was at that school.
Uncle Albert was always fun at heart, he knew how to make people laugh and let their guard down by telling jokes and made fun of himself.  Uncle Albert enjoyed being around kids and young people, he was really a kid at heart.
I believe death is only for the body and mind, but not to the truth of who we really are, which is conscious awareness, that has no beginning and no end.
Uncle Albert is in my memory as well as in my DNA which we share, and his conscious awareness is out there keeping an eye on us and telling his funny jokes to us to help us get through our days.

Uncle Albert opened my eyes as he took me to my first ever PlayBoys' Club visit in London my first night in town. I just graduated from high school and on my way to Boston from Hong Kong. I only knew the magazine, but the bunnies in person...bo! Uncle Albert is such a contrast from my dad, who would never imagine this to happened. For anyone who knew Albert, he had always been a generous guy. His buddy Thomas Chu is also my guardian in Boston, who taught me a lot about do and don't in business. You will always be missed Uncle Albert!
