I remember my Dad, my Hero

November 4, 2013

I remember my dad, who had humble beginnings and came from a very hard working family. His father died when he was a young man, and his mother ran a Boarding House.  I remember all the wonderful summers we had at Big Island Pond in Atkinson, N.H.  I remember my dad, digging for water, so his family as well as his neighbors would having running water, so we didn't have to use a outhouse.  I remember my dad taking our little wooden cottage, and turning it into a lovely summer home, with picture windows all around. Our family times together up at the Lake, were wonderful times. We had all our friends and cousins over every summer. I remember the cookouts, and all the 4th. of July picnics.  I remember my dad teaching me how to swim when I was four years old.  I remember my dad giving my mom breakfast in bed every Saturday morning.  I remember every summer having so much fun, when my dad took us to Canobie Lake Park, and all the great times we had going to Hampton Beach, and taking Sunday drives to get Ice Cream. I remember when my dad gave me his last nickel to buy a candy bar. I remember my dad taking the family to drive-in-movies. We used to go in our pajamis.  I remember growing up in a six tenement house, not having hot water.  My dad would say, someday.  My dad would take four pots of water and place them on the stove, so we would have hot water to take a bath. We all took turns, as the pots were filled again, and again. I remember my dad telling me not to stand in front of the stove, because it was too hot.  I would follow him down the basement to get oil for the stove.
I remember the good old days, when life was simple.  I remember my dad, telling me that hard work pays off.  The good old days, when neighbors would help neighbors.  I remember all the wonderful Thanksgivings, and the great memories of Christmas, when dad would wake us up at midnight, telling us to come and see what Santa bought us.  We treasured the few gifts we got, and was told about the true meaning of Christmas, when our Lord and Savior, baby Jesus came into the world. I could go on and on about our humble beginnings, and I wouldn't trade those times for the world.  From humble beginnings, my dad wanted a better life for his kids.  He certainly accomplished that and more.  Thank you God for giving me one of the greatest dad's in the world, and for keeping him in my life for so long.  I will see my dad in heaven, for this world will fade, and God will make it new again, for all who believe.  For all who read this tribute to my dad, may you find peace, and may you be saved by the spirit of Our Lord and Savior,Jesus Christ.  I wish all my family and friends to Be Born Again, to experience a Spiritual rebirth of the human soul, unlike the physical birth everyone experiences.  It is the greatest feeling in the world, to have a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior.  May the light of the Holy Spirit shine upon you dad.  I will Love now and forever.

Your daughter,
Gayle
