Dr. Burke had a profound impact on my life. I attended Cal State University Long Beach and graduated with my BA in history in 2006. In all, I took 3 classes from Dr. Burke, as he was my favorite history professor. He made me love history. One class he taught, constitutional history, was one that I DID NOT want to take, however I knew it would be interesting because he was teaching it. He did not disappoint and ended up loving that class. He was a great person who I will miss a lot. I really admired him. Including his jackets with those patched elbows that he always wore, which he actually made stylish! Later in life he helped me get into graduate school by writing an amazing recommendation. I am about to graduate in another graduate degree in the field I currently am in and will be mentioning his name specifically in the appreciation section of my thesis as a person who made a positive difference in my academic and personal life. I remember Dr. Burke with great affection and appreciation and wanted everyone here to know what a great person he was. Thank you Dr. Burke for everything!

Thinking of you on your birthday Albie. You'd be so proud of your Sasha going to Regis University in the Fall.

It's Christmas Eve and I am thinking of you. I sure miss our celebrations together as a family. You'd be so proud of Sasha and her academic and athletic accomplishments over the past seven years. You are missed!

Dad, it’s been 7 years and I still think about you everyday. You taught me some many life skills and when I do them I see you teaching me, ironing, cooking, mowing and loving my family! Thank you for being such an amazing man!! I love you forever and miss you to pieces:)

My favorite things about Albie; playing classical music on the radio while driving us to school, letting us decorate and party in his entire house for Halloween, seeing him jog through the streets of Long Beach, always happily welcoming everyone into his home, and most of all - buying us those little juice box size beers to drink with our peanut and jelly sandwiches at lunch. Thank you for all of the wonderful memories Albie.

I was a student of Dr. Burke's a few years back at CSULB. It's obviously been a little while, but as I am currently pondering going back for a Master's, I decided to look him up and am very saddened to hear of his passing. I had enormous respect and affection for Dr. Burke. He pushed me to be better than I thought I could be and to strive for more than I ever thought possible. I'm truly saddened by his passing. He was a good man and I'm truly grateful to have had the opportunity to know him.

Albie has made a profound impact on my life--not only in the most intimate and family role but in my intellectual and aesthetic life. It was Albie who got me to dare t o try an avocado (if you can imagine), study at the University of Chicago, try the LSAT and practice law. Not only respect it, but love the law in its most basic influences. Albie always encouraged me beyond my own estima
