Alethia "Lisa" Oliva Rosario

My beloved daughter whom is also a great mother, sister, neice, aunt, cousin, and friend has peacefully passed away at the UNC REX Hospital on  February 20, 2019. Now she is with her brother and other loved ones gone before us....we are content and at peace with that because we know her soul is free in heaven as her spirit was on earth.

Alethia “Lisa” was born on April 4, 1975 in Chula Vista, CA., to Antonita and Allen Oliva. As a military dependent, she has lived in many places to include Virginia, South Carolina, Ohio, Illinois, and Rhode Island before settling in Raleigh, NC.  Lisa was brought up in a loving family consisting of  2 older sisters, Nanci and Edie, a loving step-sister, Jeanna, and her younger brother, Christopher, who she was very close to. She was ever blessed with a wonderful son, Victor Angel Rosario on  December 11, 1996, who was the driving force behind all her contributions in life and her purpose for living. She is the glue that holds us all together.......Lisa was Life!

Lisa had suffered with a 22yr history of diabetes starting at the age of 8. On  June 15, 2004, Lisa had a heart attack at age 29 and had undergone quadruple bypass surgery. She had a difficult time recovering, but Lisa was a fighter and survivor, not just for herself, but for all those around her. She was very courageous in bearing her pains and suffering yet careful not to show it. Lisa became an active spokeswoman for WomenHeart, The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease to bring awareness to others and have given hope to many women suffering the same conditions.

One of her favorite quotes is:

Lesser people have done more DIFFICULT THINGS than THIS!

Lisa is survived by her only son, Victor Angel Rosario, her sisters Edie Oliva Wood & Nanci Oliva, her nephew Zach Johnson, step-dad Randy West & family, and of course her devoted mother, Toni Perez West.

Her body was cremated. At her request, no services will be held, however the family will conduct a memorial gathering on her birthday sometime in April 2019. Location will be provided at a later date.

We thank all her family and friends for sharing their memories of joy, sadness, laughter, and love with us. Thank you also to Cremation Society of the Carolinas for making this a peaceful, caring, and loving time of sadness. May the Almighty God bless you all.

As a fellow Heartsister, I remember Lisa so vividly as a young, but very inspiring survivor, who was committed to advocate for women with heart disease and share her story to give hope and inspiration.Despite her many health struggles, I loved seeing her posts on Facebook-always able to smile in the face of insurmountable odds. Her love for her family, especially for her son, was always apparent. I hope your beautiful memories of your brave and devoted Lisa, as well of those of the many she touched, will comfort you. Rest In Peace, no more suffering❤️

My dear heart sister Lisa. We met in 2003 at the Mayo Clinic WomenHeart training and remained friends. She was a peaceful fighter! She remained faithful and loving through her struggles, always encouraging and optimistic that something was better beyond. I will miss you dear friend. I wished that you could have come to visit me in Alaska. Maybe you are here in Spirit. God Bless you and I know you are in peace. Fly high angel.

My heart aches for the loss of this beautiful being I love so much...no matter what Lisa had to endure, she never stopped having fun in her life and making the best of any situation. Her life journey was inspirational to me as I watched her grow on facebook and all the silly pics she would post..Angel, Edie, Nan, Zac & my dearest sister Nick...God speed peace to your heart & soul knowing that she is finally free of pain and is with her loving brother Chris....I love you all and will always be here for you.

Heart Sisters Forever

April 6, 2019

My heart breaks each time I lose a special Heart Sister. We met during our Mayo training in 2003. Rest well sweet Alethia ❤️

My beautiful and dear, dear friend and ❤️sister Lisa is ill. She fought so hard! Please pray for Lisa, her mom, her sisters, and her loving and wonderful son. We met in 2003 at the Mayo Clinic during the WomenHeart training and event. We became fast friends; later because of the wonderful program, WomenHeart, we met again in Indiana and Washington, DC. Lisa and I kept in touch all these years, she touched my heart. Today, I was sad for no reason. I have been thinking of her as I hadn't heard from her. I read the post where she is very ill. God bless my sister Alethia. She is an inspiring true friend and an angel.

Rice between the toes...

March 21, 2019

When she was just a little "Punkie", uncle Phil and I would put rice between her toes and watch her try to get it out by wiggling her toes. Not knowing she could simply use her hands to remove the rice, she quickly became frustrated. That look of sheer concentration and frustration was timeless tip today.
