Alex I will remember your legacy and am grateful for all you have done. I am sending sincere condolences and blessings to your family for their loss.
This memorial website was created in memory of our esteemed friend and colleague Alex Cheang, President South-East Asia, sadly passed away on April 27th 2019. He was 50 years old.
We have lost a great leader who was an unbelievably talented man. He played an instrumental role in leading by example and developing Sonepar and the KVC group in South-East Asia.
Alex joined the Group in 2013, when he was appointed as the first President for South-East Asia. Under his leadership, the South-East Asia region has grown successfully achieving a significant number of partnerships and building a strong core support team.
We will remember him forever.

Leave a tributeAlex I will remember your legacy and am grateful for all you have done. I am sending sincere condolences and blessings to your family for their loss.
Over the last 6 years I've learned an enormous amount from you, your leadership was decisive and insightful, your ability to simplify seemingly complex situations and bring everyone to focus on what's really important was an amazing skill. Personally I'll also miss our growing friendship, my heart felt condolences go out to your family. Rest in Peace.
It was with deep regret to learn that your husband and father to your children passed away so suddenly.
My sympathy goes out to you and your family.
Please accept my sincere condolences.
You were a key part of the team that brought Sonepar to S.E. Asia through our first business initiative in Malaysia, the joint venture with KVC. However, I did not get to know you initially when I first joined the region, since at that time you were not directly involved with the KVC operating companies in 2011.
On joining the region I quickly identified the need to have a single person responsible for all of our businesses within S.E. Asia; one who would accept the challenges presented by the diversity of the businesses yet build on their synergies while recognizing the cultural needs of the area. That was no easy task as after many months of searching I came up empty-handed. However, you were recommended to me by two of your colleagues, Aaron Chen and Matthieu Raffestin, and on sitting down with you, I quickly came to the decision that you were the right person for this important role.
That was one of my best decisions. You quickly assessed the position and started forming S.E. Asia into one of the most productive and fastest growing areas in the region. Your business acumen, understanding of distribution, and most importantly your ability to communicate and lead people, quickly produced a dynamic team that others wanted to join. The acquisitions followed quickly.
You were a very active part of the Asia Pacific Management Team, bringing your unique talents to help guide us through some tough, busy and very hectic times. Most of all, you had that enigmatic smile that just seemed to let problems become simple challenges.
I will miss you Alex, and my deepest sympathy goes out to your family, friends, and colleagues of whom you thought so highly.
Sleep well my friend.
Keith

After having shared during our SLP, each time I have met you in international meetings I was impressed by your strength, your trust and your kindness. I do thank you for these moments we shared.

Words cannot begin to express the sadness, I am thanksfull to life to make us meet. Thanks for the past guidance. I wish you have peace in the heaven. You will be remembered.
We got to know each other at the Sonepar Leadership Program first in Singapore I was impressed by your professionalism and pragmatism we all loved your sense of humour and your contribution to the Asian way of thinking and doing business
We will always remember you as strong ambassador of our group
Rest well my friend
I am thanksfull to life to make us meet. I feel lucky to have worked with you for 4 years, such a smart guy, such a great professional and at the same time a man with great values. You helped me a lot. You were like a bridge for me. You helped me in understanding Asian culture(s) and in my interactions with people.
I am thanksfull we had this wednesday afternoon for the two of us in Chantilly and that we could discuss shop and life... only the cold interrupted us at that time. It was quiet, we were alone, and we had time for once !
We were together as well when this picture of you was taken in Paris HQ. It was a good laugh and we concluded that none of us would never become a top model ! I like this picture of you, your smile and all the life I can feel in it ! It is you !
You told me one day that your kidney transplant was a second chance given to you by life... It was also a chance given to your friends, colleagues and family to enjoy your presence longer.
I hope you are now diving in a blue lagoon and enjoying the peace and tranquility of it.
I will miss your presence but you will stay with me forever.
Jerome
I still remember very clearly the first time we met in March 2016. I was in the company since few weeks and you told me about the great history of your SOA and explained me the decentralization in Sonepar from an APAC point of view. So useful for me.
And lately in Chantilly when we took the picture at the gala dinner with the rest of the team and we laughed and smiled all together.
We had a great time and everything you built will be carried on ....
We will miss the leader and the colleague, but we will most of all miss the man with solid values, serious professional, with a great sense of humor fond of life, fond and proud of his family, his wife and daughters. And all our thoughts are for them now.
Hard not to hear your voice anymore and see you, still your presence and your words are and will be with us every day.
Ciao Alex.
I have known you since 2012 and it has always been a pleasure seeing you at our APAC boards and events. I will miss the always smiling man as well as the great professional and inspiring leader for his team.
All my thoughts to your family and beloved ones.
Having been in active and direct contact.
Having felt the passion and shared the ambitions in life and business
The Netherlands was far but we felt a connection between our approaches in
both countries
With respect and remembering a great human being
for his family,values and country
Too early,too soon
Wishing his family the best memories and keeping in mind the exemple
Building is done step by step and only solid rock will last
Although having knowing you for only a few months, your compassion, calm character and the professional spirits have deeply impressed me. I have enjoyed the time working, having meeting and drinking together with you.
The last time I saw you at the Chantilly hotel lobby in the Friday afternoon, you told me that you were going to transit at Istanbul. You had never been to the city and you wanted to see the city before you went home. The news came to me too shocking and too sad.
I wish you have peace in the heaven. You will be remembered.
As a relative and a friend I have some very
Wonderful memories together and shall always
treasure it. Have PEACE.
