Dear Alex
You were a key part of the team that brought Sonepar to S.E. Asia through our first business initiative in Malaysia, the joint venture with KVC. However, I did not get to know you initially when I first joined the region, since at that time you were not directly involved with the KVC operating companies in 2011.
On joining the region I quickly identified the need to have a single person responsible for all of our businesses within S.E. Asia; one who would accept the challenges presented by the diversity of the businesses yet build on their synergies while recognizing the cultural needs of the area. That was no easy task as after many months of searching I came up empty-handed. However, you were recommended to me by two of your colleagues, Aaron Chen and Matthieu Raffestin, and on sitting down with you, I quickly came to the decision that you were the right person for this important role.
That was one of my best decisions. You quickly assessed the position and started forming S.E. Asia into one of the most productive and fastest growing areas in the region. Your business acumen, understanding of distribution, and most importantly your ability to communicate and lead people, quickly produced a dynamic team that others wanted to join. The acquisitions followed quickly.
You were a very active part of the Asia Pacific Management Team, bringing your unique talents to help guide us through some tough, busy and very hectic times. Most of all, you had that enigmatic smile that just seemed to let problems become simple challenges.
I will miss you Alex, and my deepest sympathy goes out to your family, friends, and colleagues of whom you thought so highly.
Sleep well my friend.
Keith
