Mr. Ortiz was part of my family almost as long as I can remember. When Alex and my sister met when I was 5 years old and they later got married, Mr. Ortiz became an essential part of our family. I always felt so welcomed anytime I saw him. He was always quick to go for a handshake and ask what was going on in my life. He'd ask how work was and how school was. It was clear that he was invested just as much in our family as he was his very own. And it was even more clear how much he loved his kids and my brother Alex. I'm so glad I was able to share some of this life with him.
