Dad,
I trying my hardest not to cry as I sit here thinking about how desperately I miss you. I feel bad I’m even saying this because all you ever wanted is for us kids is to be happy. But it feels almost impossible when you’re not here.

Dr. Hsu was an attanding physician to my father when he was an inpatient at NW Medical. My father never liked going to doctors but after meeting Dr. Hsu his outlook on physicians changed and after the hospital visit Dr. Hsu became my parents and soon after my primary physician. A few years later my father passed away and Dr. Hsu was now the PCP for my mother and I. About 7-years after my dad passed, my mom passed away. I remember going to see Dr. Hsu, and him mentioning my parents to me who at the time had passed away years earlier. Dr. Hsu was always a warm, and caring physician. He never rushed you out of the exam room or the office, he was an amaing person and doctor. He was an amazing man. When I first found out about his passing from COVID was on the news. When I saw his picture on TV I couldn't believe what I was looking at. I will always remember the Doctor for being such an amazing guy.

Though the thought of you not being here with us may be unsettling, what brings closure to me is knowing you are in the most heavenly place we can only dream of.

He is the doctor down to earth with big and soft heart as gentle mother ("Lương y như từ mẫu"). I still remembered Dr. Hsu told me his story: "When you success, don't forget to reach out and help those in needs around you". His sincere and kindness touched by all who knew him. His legendary carry-on. Dr. Hsu is an angel. My big family and the community love and missed him.

I only met him a handful of times but his legend preceded him. Everyone knew that guy and I only ever heard of his kindness. To me, I only knew him as the placid, Chow Young Fat look-a-like who encouraged me in my own professional endeavours. He helped my parents with all type of miscellany ailments over ~20 years so I’m grateful angels walk on earth. Obviously he was one of them. He really made a difference.

I've worked for Dr. Hsu for 23 years, being happy and so comfortable with a nice, wonderful boss like him. Suddenly my life, my coworkers' lives, and also 3 generations of patients from North to South Florida were turned upside down when he passed. A genuine, warm human being was taken away from us.

Dr. Hsu, now being an angel, you are watching over us and we hope you are happy to see the effect your kindness had on people.

Dr. Hsu, my heart aches every time I see your pictures or videos, your smiling face, and your hearty laugh will stay forever in my heart.

Goodbye

Remembrance of Alex Hsu.

We lost a great doctor, a great colleague, a great friend, and a great father. He was not only kind, generous, caring, funny, and full of love, but his hard work, patience, encouragement and perseverance had won many hearts.
As a great doctor, he would spend time with each his patients and listen to their concern. Never rush or impatience with anyone. He treated each one of them as his own family members. He gave advises to each patient as they were his own parents, brothers, sisters or children. He was no shame to be so called a “Family doctor”.
As a great colleague, he always lending hands to help new doctors coming to town. He would introduce them to the local communities, gave them tips and advises, and even sent patients to help them to build their practice. He was never asked for return, but just helped them.
As a great friend, many of us had considered he was a friend as well. He was a down to earth guy once you knew him. He was funny, generous, and kind. He would not reject you as a friend because of your social status. He especially loved to eat. I remembered one time just him and I, we were out for dinner. We ordered all the delicious Chinese seafood dishes including lobster, crabs, clams, shrimps, scallops, and so forth, even the table was running out of room. Many times, we shared life, sadness, laughter and even gossip. He was fun to hang out with.
As a great father, he always planned for his children. With the few encounters I had with his children, he taught them well with respect to others. He cared about every single one of them. Each one of them loves him as well. Sometime when we dine out at a new place; he would bring his children there the next day. He also taught them the value of life and gave them the pointers, freedom to try. He was always supportive with their own decision and gave them the help that they needed.
After all these years, I truly miss him; he will be always in my mind. He had fought a good journey of life and his reward is waiting for him in heaven. I believe I will see him again and have a great feast together in heaven. May God bless him and his family.

Harvey,
Friend forever

Dr Hsu a man we can never forget the most down to earth person and human to walk the face of this planet. You would know him as a kind soft hearted person and very giving i have not known someone as special as him.
He would go out of his way to help everyone there was no one excluded from that when he would just care about your well being and was more than a doctor if you needed anything he would not even think twice about helping. My wife has worked for him almost half her life and not once I have ever seen or heard a negative thing about that man. She would only praise the man he was,if she ever needed anything he was there for us and our family. This is a great loss and Dr Hsu will be greatly missed and never forgotten my condolences to his family and to his kids your dad was a great man. Rest in peace Dr Alex Hsu.

I've been an employee of Dr. Hsu's for 16 years and this was a lot of my growing up years and tbh a lot of my troubled years. He was always so inclined to ask me about my family and gave me good solid advice on situations I was going through and for that he holds a very special place in my heart. He was the ideal boss, father, friend, and man. He was always so gentle with his words and so willing to help anyone he could. Something he taught me and everyday I aspire to is to not sweat things, just do your best and the rest will fall in place and to strive for happiness above all.
We will never forget him or his laugh. I'm sure its not only me but I could go all day about how great of a person he was. May he rest in peace with our heavenly father.

You are a light Dr.Hsu. Thank you for shining so brightly and reflecting through your children all that you are. I wish I got to meet you but in many ways I have through Dria and Kailey, two beautiful women with bountiful light to share. I saw it in your eyes in the video of them tossing around having fun with you as children. Your energy is REAL. Big love!

When I think back on all my memories of my dad, I can hardly think of just one to share, every single memory with him was profound. so instead I’m just going to share with you who he was to me. My father was my everything; he was my safe space, a shoulder to lean on, my confidant. My dad was my rock, and with him in my world, it felt like no matter how crazy or tough things seemed to get, he always tied me safely to the ground and gave me the confidence to fly. Now with him gone, there is a big piece of me missing, but I know over time it will heal. idk how he did it, putting everyone before himself, but I know he loved us all very much. He will never be replaced in my world but he will always carry on in my heart, and I hope to honor him and his memory the best way that I can. Happy Birthday Dad. We love and miss you.

My Dad's Story

July 16, 2020
I believe individuals as generous, kind, positive and morally upstanding are extremely rare/special. Most people are lucky to even know someone as special as my father in their lifetime, I consider my biggest blessing in life was having him as my father. He made those around him feel safe and motivated them to do and be better, leading by example. As a dedicated doctor, he worked tirelessly for his many patients through the years. Below are some direct quotes taken from his own personal memoir dedicated to my family:

 •  “My biggest hope now is that the children growing up will be more environmentally educated and do a better job in protecting the world and getting along well better with each other.”

 •  “Hard work, never run away from responsibilities, do any task to the best of my ability, persevere in any severe condition.”

 •  “Fulfillment, happiness, and accomplishment for not only myself but also the people very close to me. Just as the forest is not just about one tree or one bush or one flower flourishing, all the above is not just about me.”

 •  “I am easily content. I do not like to dress up fancy and I always root for the underdog. I am fiscally conservative, socially liberal, and I get emotional easily. My type of vacation is to catch my own fish and grill it. My favorite social time is to gather a couple good friends and meet up in a sports bar. My favorite family time is to sit down watch a good movie.”

 •  “Perfect happiness to me is when I do have no debt, I’ve fulfilled all my responsibilities, when I achieve all goals, I keep all my promises, and when all my loved ones are healthy.”

 •  “I have doubted my faith, especially when I was in hard times. The thought 'why this only happens to me' would often come to mind. The fact is God treats everyone the same, it is up to each individual to solve and overcome their problem. Rather than doubting faith, it is better to strength the faith by overcoming the hurdles and coming out feeling stronger.”

 •  “Ideal dream world of politics would be a utopia. A Place where there is no division of boundary, no barrier of language, no class difference of status, equal justice, equal pay for same work, education for all, religious and speech freedom. A world of sharing and giving. Also a world of self motivation for independence with less relying on others.”

 •  “I would still working about 4 hours a day and set up a free clinic for needy patients.”

 •  “My best advice is it does not hurt to be the underdog. This will always make you work harder and when you achieve the goal others don’t think you can it is more rewarding!”
