On Wednesday, April 7, 2021, Alexander Sergei Bucewicz, dear father to Alexandra and Amir, passed away at the age of 67.
Alexander was born in Siberia, Russia on September 11, 1953 to Sergei and Irene Bucewicz. By age 5, both his mother and father had died, leaving him and his little sister orphans.
Following this, Alexander went to live with his grandmother, who raised him with a firm, but loving, hand and instilled in him a desire for higher education. Soon, his fascination for building led him to seek a degree in engineering.
In 1971, Alexander ventured to the United States to pursue his career. He worked in Boston, Massachusetts for several years before meeting and marrying Aleidys Silano and moving to Cleveland, Ohio. In 1982, they had a daughter Alexandra; and in 1987, a son Amir.
Alexander reveled in quiet mornings with coffee and newspaper, strolls through parks, long meals with family and friends, and vigorous debates over world affairs. He was a loyal and generous friend, a lover of animals and nature, a Clint Eastwood film enthusiast, and a connoisseur of Eastern European cuisine.
He will be missed by his children and close friends Stacy, Richie, Larry, and many others.
“So meanwhile, friends, enjoy your blessing:
This fragile life that hurries so!
Its worthlessness needs no professing,
And I'm not loathe to let it go;
I've closed my eyes to phantoms gleaming,
Yet distant hopes within me dreaming
Still stir my heart at times to flight:
I'd grieve to quit this world's dim light
And leave no trace, however slender.
I live, I write - not seeking fame;
And yet, I think, I'd wish to claim
For my sad lot its share of splendour—
At least one note to linger long,
Recalling, like some friend, my song.”
