Reflections of Life

I have fought a good fight.

I have finished my course.

I have kept the faith.

Alexis Marie Burney, age 26, was born on August 8, 1995, in Dayton, Ohio to Sheryl Burney. She was called home on December 20,2021, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

Alexis graduated valedictorian from Thurgood Marshalls High School in 2013. She then went on to graduate from Miami University in 2017, with a B.A. in Political Science. While at Miami University she joined sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority In 2015.

Alexis had a huge personality with a huge, beautiful smile to match. She was an outgoing go-getter who knew what she wanted out of life. She was very energetic, outspoken, and not the type of person who would sugar coat things when she talked to you. She loved her dog (her son) Archer tremendously.

Preceded in death by her god father, Edward Derbigny, grandmother Pearl Burney, Grandfather Robert Turner, Uncles, Tom Turner, Charles Turner, and best friend Brittany M. Jackson.

Alexis leaves behind to cherish her memories, mother Sheryl Burney, brother Alex Burney, godmother Donna Derbigny. Aunts and uncles, Cynthia Burney, Theresa (Joe) Smith, Mary Ann Benson, Dennis & Betty Grismon and Mary Harris. Best friends, Krystal Anders, Ivory Hammond, Josiah “Jo Jo” May, and God sisters Kimberly Crutcher. She also leaves a host of cousins and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to AI and Drew.
