Alfred David Jones, 88, a longtime resident of Granville County, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016 at this home.

A native of Wake County, he was the son of the late Johnie Henry Jones and Maggie Beck. He was of the Baptist faith, a corporal in the Marine Corp. and retired from Burlington Industries.

Making walking canes, refinishing antique trunks were his hobbies and gardening were his passion.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday May 29, 2016 at Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church by Reverend Bruce Brooks. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Barbara Boyd Jones of the home, two daughters, Dorothy J. Hicks and Alice J. Crowder, both of Oxford, a grandson, Patrick D. Crowder, granddaughter, Jennifer P. Crowder, a great-grandson, Brandon Tyler Crowder and a great-grand daughter, Hailey Renae Crowder. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandy Gregory Crowder, three sisters and one brother.
