Marine Corps ring

February 27, 2014
When I was a kid growing up in Bakersfield, California or Williams, California, I was so impressed with my fathers military ring, I used to always think of one day, this will be my ring, or I wonder if my father would give it to me now? But, he never ever took that ring off, he was so dedicated to the Marine Corps and their values that all my life, up until the day he died and removed it from his finger I always thought, he will take that ring to his grave. But growing up under his Marine Corps way of life I came to realize, he loved his Marine Corps, as all Marines do, but that he would never, ever part with his ring, I mean afterall, that ring survived Korea, Iwo Jima, and so many other conflicts he was in that nowadays, the ring is so worn down you can barely identify the globe and anchor. I now have my fathers Marine Corps ring, and over the years, I have bought, and own probably five Marine Corps rings, that each time I get a new ring, I take it off, and put my fathers ring back on? Is it because I want to wear a new ring, and feel bad about removing his? Is it because I want to preserve my fathers ring for my son? No, I think its because of the values of the reason behind the ring that my late father bestowed on me, and the fact that that ring has seen so much action, and was a part of my fathers body, that now, I wear it proudly and kjow the true history of that ring, and the value it meant to my father! So that has geen my infstuation with my fathers ring since I was alittle kid, thanks Dad, I'll wear it proudly as you have, and when I die, they to can pry it off of my finger! Semper Fi Dad, I love and miss you!
