A Poem for Alice by her Grand daughter Alisa Van Dyk
A Legacy
The ordinary
The mundane
Turned into wonderlands
Of silk and cotton
And homemade dolls
Flour and eggs
Turned into treats
You loved what you did
And in turn we gave you ours
From up high
I know you’re watching
You’re laughing and smiling
Safe and whole
No longer in pain
Or in the throes of mortality
That’s all anyone could’ve asked for
Ironing and sewing
Cookies and lemon squares
You taught me the fundamentals of living
And those lessons are priceless memories now
You will always have a legacy within me
I know you see me crying
My heart breaking
But I know you would Want me happy
Being with God is a celebration
Always a consolation, never a lamentation
Heaven is just another home
A better home
I Love You
Always
