Alice Pinto was the fearless matriarch of the Pinto family. She had a thirst for life and made it a point to experience each day to its fullest. Alice spent her years surrounded by a loving family and great friends. Ever the life of the party, she found great joy in entertaining those around her. Her hospitality knew no bounds and she never turned down an opportunity to put her excellent culinary skills to use. Her grandchildren will definitely be missing her famous beef biryani. She shared her passion for cooking with her children, grandchildren, and all around her, valuing tradition and always proud of her culture. Never has a visitor ever left Melnivas hungry. A proud Mangalorean catholic with a generous spirit, Alice had a strong relationship with St. Sebastian Church in Bendur; hosting and participating in community events, prayer meetings, and more. She took great pleasure in helping those in need and never turned away an extended hand. She was always known and loved by her community for her caring nature. Alice was also an adventurous soul and took every opportunity to explore this world and everything it has to offer. She has travelled far and wide, to Toronto, Dallas, Kuwait, London, California, Bombay, the Holy Land, and more to spend time with her loved ones and was even known to frequent many amusement parks for their famous rollercoasters.

Alice Pinto was many things but above all else, she was a mother. She was a mother to her children, a mother to her friends, a mother to the community. And a mother’s love transcends all obstacles and is the purest form of affection, seeping into every crevasse of your being and making you whole. Alice has brought glorious technicolour into our lives and in the wake of her absence, we are left feeling hollow and alone. Her warmth and everlasting love will be our saving grace as it will help to fill the void that she has left behind. We will be able to see her spirit in the eyes of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and in the eyes of all the people she has touched during her lifetime. We will forever cherish the memories that we have of her and the invaluable lessons that she has taught us. 

Alice Pinto was a national treasure to her family and friends, and one of the last of her kind.

And after 92 wonderful years of walking this earth, she is finally being laid to rest in the place she called home; Mangalore.
