Alonzo Banks Parker was born Alonzo Banks in Pachuta, Mississippi on June 13, 1928 to Walter Banks and Ella Juanita Williams Banks.  Alonzo was the youngest of six children born to Walter and Ella Banks.  His mother was called to rest while Alonzo was an infant.  Alonzo relocated to Brighton, Alabama as a young child, where he was raised by his adoptive parents, an aunt and uncle, Reverend Robert L Parker and Mattie Williams Parker.  He was called to eternal rest on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, following an extended illness.  He was preceded in death by his brothers Walter, Roland and Robert; and his sisters Mary and Lorraine.

Alonzo accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of twelve years by his father, the late Reverend Robert Parker.  He later joined Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend H.L. Parker.  He remained a member of Friendship Baptist Church for many years; and recommitted his life to Christ under the leadership of Reverend C.E Hollingsworth.  Alonzo was a dedicated member and joyfully attended services each Sunday until his health began to fail.  He often expressed how much he looked forward to attending worship services.

Alonzo attended elementary school in Jefferson County.  During his adult years, he assisted many residents in the Brighton and Bessemer communities with various household and lawn projects.

Alonzo will be fondly remembered by his only son, Christopher Moore (Debra) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.  He will also be remembered by the many friends made at Friendship Baptist Church and during his residence at Golden Living/Diversicare of Bessemer, Alabama.
