Today, it struck me that you were born in the midst of the years where everlasting mountains are scattered (Habakkuk 3:6).

No wonder you never tolerated any nonsense.

You were born on a double perfection day, in the month of perfection.

No wonder you hated imperfection.

Happy post humous birthday, my beloved father!
Still the best father that came to earth from heaven!

Exactly today, 12 years ago, our dear father went home to be with the LORD

At times I imagine what life would have been like if he was still around
But I do know one thing, if he was still here with us, he would have been clapping and dancing at the exploits his children have wrought with the help of God
I know he would be smiling for the increases in the family
He would have seen nine new grandchildren and three great grand children, a new daughter-in-love, two grand sons-in-law and two grand daughter-in-laws

He would have made many cups of tea for everybody to drink
Without hesitation, he would have curtly walked out all idiots out of the house

I know without a doubt that we all miss him: his warmth, love, encouragement, friendship and fatherliness

It just looks like yesterday ...

We live because he first lived.
God grant him eternal peace, in Jesus name.
For sure, I know I deeply miss him.

I wish you are still alive to see what your children and grandchildren have become. You raised outstanding seeds. I stay consoled that the righteous only sleep in the bosom of the LORD, their Saviour. Continue to rest, my beloved Father. You would have been a 100 years today.

Papa, from 1993 to 2010 when you passed to eternity, I was privileged to be in close touch with you as we lived in the same building. You radiated so much love for me, my husband and our children and had a pet name for each of us. The vacuum your death left cannot be filled. You always encouraged me to strive for greater heights in life in order to stand out in the crowd,. You never got tired of pointing my direction and telling anyone who cared to listen" that is Patty's wife, she is an engineer". I miss you my father in-law, I am consoled though, that you are with God!

Papa: When I was a small girl, you planted the seed of an academic in me by telling me of the undermined treasures to be found in books. You gave me many to read. You encouraged me to be the best that I can be and never to be deterred by obstacles. You are forever dear to me. Miss you so greatly. At times, I wish I can turn back and see your much beloved face again.

My great father. More handsome than the most beautiful woman. More beautiful than roses. Rest in peace, Papa.

My Father, My Friend

September 14, 2016

Papa, I will miss the warmth of your arms and the deep passion with which you cared for me in particular and my other siblings. You were my close friend and confidante. We have stayed up late in the nights to share secrets and have deep talks.

You have always encouraged me to be the best in whatever I do. When other fathers were hesitant to send their female children to the universities, you insisted that I must go. You backed it up with a bank of encouragement and prayers. You made me to learn to celebrate every victory. There was always something we could smile, laugh and dance about. You have always been proud of me and of all that I have achieved. Many, many years ago when I was about six, you stood admiring me. Then you held me in your arms and declared to the whole family and anybody who cared to listen that I was the most beautiful person that you have ever seen. You added that the whole world would come looking for me to celebrate me.

When I was about nine, I came to live with you in Lagos. You opened me up to the world of books. You showed me all the marvels and gold to be dug from studying. This period marked a turning point in my life. Perhaps, this was the time my destiny was stamped into academics and life-long learning. You showed me how to do great things without fuss.

I know that you did not have an easy life. You lost your mother when you were still a very small boy. Despite all the hurdles that you started facing early in life, you did not allow these to stop you from reaching the goals that you set for yourselves. You refused to allow them make you feel bitter. Papa, you were generous. You were always ready to give to others. You treasured your family a lot and never allowed any person to do otherwise.

May your rest be sweet. I am already missing you.

Your daughter.

Papa was a kind man. He gave me a treasure called education. Although he is dead, I  still value the treasure and it is still with me.

Papa cared a lot for me. In fact, I wish he is still alive. He was the greatest man that I have ever seen. But what God has done, we cannot question Him because He is GOD.

Papa I miss you a lot already. I wish you are still alive.

Your grand daughter,

Victoria-Grace
