The Good Samaritan...

April 20, 2019

On April 3rd, 1978, having heard skids on state route 160 by the Sacramento River, Alvin searched for and located an overturned, partially submerged vehicle with a trapped driver inside.  He waded to the vehicle and attempted to rescue the driver without success so he left to call for rescue personnel.  He quickly returned with neighbors and reentered the cold water and calmed the driver as he reattempted to rescue them for forty-five minutes.  Emergency personnel arrived and was able to rescue the driver with special equipment.  His initiative, perserverance, and subsequent actions upon locating the vehicle were undoubtedly instrumental in saving the driver's life.  He is a credit to the community and was commended for his outstanding act.

Social Life...

April 20, 2019

Alvin loved to be with friends. He was very social.  What was so special about him was he truly loved all his friends.  He kept in touch with so many over the years, some even as far back as kindergarten.  He was always himself no matter where he was.  Full of fun and mischief.  A ball of fire in his youth.  He was the kind of man that would give you the shirt off his own back.  A very kind loving soul who will be missed by many.
