Tributes
Leave a TributeBeen thinking about you a lot lately, still not able to have dreams about you (it's almost like I haven't accepted the fact that you are gone, since I hadn't seen you in person the last 2 years of your life, I feel like you are still up in Pennsylvania living with some of your family members, and I wasn't allowed to speak to you for over a year-so my brain still thinks you are there) Perhaps someday I will be able to come to terms with the fact that you were taken from me by family first, then God (only one of those is acceptable) Just know that I think of you daily, you and Mom both were the best thing that ever happened to my life.
Forever missing you,
Your baby daughter

A Special Grandpa
My Dad is extraordinary, God broke the mold when he made him. He was the most wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. When my daughter, Vanessa Hines, was around 8 years old, she would help her Grandpa pick the tomatoes out of his garden, that he had so tenderly cared for and grew plenty of to share with half the neighborhood. My daughter was all about making money to go buy toys or candy at the Dollar store, so the two of them devised a plan to take some of the bigger, juicier, plump tomatoes and go door-to-door to sell these beautiful tomatoes for cheap, like 50 cents or less. And believe it or not, several of our kind neighbors would purchase these tomatoes from the white, bearded gentleman and his adorably sweet sidekick. Now they didn't make a killing on this, but it didn't matter to my Dad at all, he was spending quality time with lil munchkin and allowing her to learn the value of earning her own money. To me, that makes my Dad ONE superbly, patient and loving man.
I miss you Daddy. I love you to the moon and back.
