Alvin James Watson departed this life Friday April 15, 2022, at the Cottages of Clayton. He was born September 16, 1957, in Dayton, Ohio to the union of Russell and Mable Watson. At the time of his transition, he was in the care of Day City Hospice who treated him with the dignity and special care we all deserve during our most vulnerable end times.
Alvin attended Dunbar High School and spent countless hours making his friends and neighbors smile and laugh, as he could be one of the sweetest and giving souls at times. Many of his caregivers would often share that Alvin was a very sweet man. Though he struggled with mental health issues for a great part of his life, he worked hard to manage and overcome those issues and spent the latter of his years in a much more peaceful and pleasant space. Alvin had a caring and sharing heart and often shared what he had with others in need.
Alvin is proceeded in death by his parents Russell and Mable Watson 2014 and 2015 respectively and his ex-wife Dorothy Stark.
Alvin leaves to cherish his memory his brother, Timmy Watson, cousins Luretha Young, Virginia Jackson and cousin and caretaker, Pamela Shackelord all of Dayton, Ohio. Various other aunts, uncles and cousins across the country and friends locally including long-time friend Lois Williams.
Services will be at W.E. Lusain Funeral Home, on 2060 Germantown St.Dayton, OH 4541. Visitation will begin at 11:00am and service to follow at 12:00pm.
