"Mama, who is big enough to rob God?"

December 7, 2018

One of my most favorite stories of Amanda's childhood was when she was about 9 years old. One Saturday morning I arose to start getting ready for work. I was a nurse and worked the 7 am- 7 pm shift so I had to get up by 5am to start getting ready. Amanda always woke up early, back then, and she came padding into the living room and curled up on the couch.....not to watch cartoons like most children would do, but to read in her Bible. She was reading in the book of Malachi ( the last book of the Old Testament) when she called me to come to her. She looked up and said, "Mama, who is big enough to rob God?". I looked at the verse she was reading and it was the verse that spoke of tithes and offerings. The verse says, "Will a man rob God?" I had to explain that the scripture refers to us robbing God when we withhold our offerings. She said, "Oh! I thought it meant someone robbed God and I know how big God is and I wondered who was that big!" Amanda began to give offerings out of her allowances from that day forward!
