Lovely Amanda - it was always lovely to go on holiday with you; they made me so happy and I will always remember those times and I will never forget you. I will miss you so much, Trudie xxx
I remember the first day I met you, and the extraordinary effect you had on Jenny. She hadn't had so much fun for years! And then when you realised Jenny's mum would not be able to look after her any more, you took Jenny in, without a second thought, and you and Donald gave her the most amazing home and incredible experiences. You were larger than life, a huge heart, a huge character, with no limits on what you set out to achieve. Jenny and her family will be forever grateful for everything you brought her. We will remember you. xxx
Very sorry to hear this News Amanda was very dedicated to the people she supported and will be very missed by all xx thoughts and wishes go to all her family taken far too soon God Bless xxx
Was a pleasure working with you over the years Amanda, you were truly an inspiration to all you supported. Taken far too soon and will be missed by many... Sincerest condolences x x
So sad that such an amazing lady has left us way too soon. We will always be grateful that Amanda came into our lives when she started to support Ellen. It is hard to put into words just how much of a difference she made to our lives. Her enthusiasm and belief that anything was possible was amazing, there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t try & organise for Ellen or encourage her to try. They had some lovely adventures together. This beautiful, caring lady will certainly never be forgotten in this house. Our hearts go out to you Donald & your lovely family at this sad time. Lots of love Gill, Chris, Ellen, Issy & Tom xxx
When the KCC announced that they were ending the ILS we worried. What next. Fortunately Sharon, Emma's last support under the ILS, introduced us all to Amanda. Not only did the support, care and consideration for Emma's wellbeing continue but Emma was introduced to independent, from us, holidays (4 in one year), theatre trips, shopping trips and other activities to enhance Emma's wellbeing and confidence. The important factor was being amongst her peers. Emma could be herself, contribute to activities, and voice her opinions knowing they would be listened to. Whilst Amanda didn't do this alone she was the driving force and more then ably assisted by her family and co-conspirators. She cared and her charges knew this and responded. Amanda has left us way way too early in her life but her legacy will remain and Amanda will never be forgotten. Our thoughts are with Donald and her family.
I will always remember Amanda as somebody with great ideas, impressive drive, a wicked sense of humour, a strong voice and most importantly a huge heart! A lady so selflessly dedicated to her work, friends and family that had a huge impact on the lives of so many of those around her. Taken far too soon. Sending lots of love to her nearest and dearest xxx
It's so difficult to summarise all our thoughts in a few short sentences. Amanda, through Life is for Living, gave Sam his only opportunities to have holidays and evenings out with friends rather than us. Thanks to Amanda (and Donald) Sam has so many fabulous memories of holidays and theatre trips including his first trip to France, Blackpool and Mamma Mia at the O2. Everything was great fun enabling Sam to have experiences he could never have with us. You will be sorely missed. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all. Love Sam (Cory) Pam and Henry Williams and Michelle Smale
Amanda was so very kind hearted and she changed so many peoples lives for the better, nothing was too much trouble. She would often help us with those difficult tasks, such as filling in forms or taking us to meetings and lending moral support, she was always there for you. So many people have told me Amanda gave them hope and this was certainly the case for our family... Amanda took Mandy to numerous shows and on wonderful holidays, she was a breath of fresh air. Amanda really will be missed, she was such a wonderful person and our deepest condolences to her family and friends. All our love, Ann, Pat & Mandy.
Well what can I say Manda has been my friend since we was 13 years old meeting on a french holiday with the school we had some ups and downs throughout our years but was always there for each other even if we didn’t see each other we both knew we was there.I have so many memories of Manda and I will her so much ❤️ Sleep tight Mand love always karen xxx
Sending lots of love to Donald and all the family, Amanda gave my daughter a chance to get out with her mates, to concerts and days out and holidays without me, so she could eye up the lads and have a few beers without mother watching, a great loss, so, so,sorry to all the family, a truely lovely lady❤
I’ve had the pleasure of working with this amazing lady over the last 20 odd years and she has always put the welfare of others before hers. She has supported me throughout tough times in my life and I will always be eternally grateful to her. Sleep Tight Amanda, you will be sorely missed.
I met Amanda when I was looking for extra support for my sister. I knew her for a relatively short amount of time but she’s left a lasting impression on my life. Without her I wouldn’t have had the resolve I needed to ensure my sister got the home and the excellent care she deserved. Amanda propped me up when I faltered; with her support no obstacle was ever too big. She was an amazing woman - funny, down-to-earth, with a can-do attitude, a love of tea, a knack for online shopping, and a true advocate for people with learning disabilities.
It’s often said but it’s never been more true in Amanda’s case – she will truly be missed.
To a lady that thought inside and outside the boxes, especially for my daughter Hannah who has a learning disability . I thank you . You will sadly missed x
Never in a million years did I think you would be gone so soon. I have so many fond memories and I loved growing up with all of my cousins (Adam, Dan, Chris and Erin).
It makes me sad to know that I won’t be able to message you about pointless things or hear your voice again. But, just know that I love you and i will miss you. Our family will continue to spend Christmas’ and birthday’s together and my future family (I hope) will know just how special you are to me.
My world feels a lot sadder and emptier without you being in it. Good night and god bless Auntie Manda. X
Manda I remember you being born Our families were as one, I classed you as my adopted sister. We grew up together as children and into adulthood our bond remained strong. I will never forget the love and support you gave me in 2015 when my world fell apart. Your love and care for your family and friends had no boundaries. You believed that everyone should have the same opportunities in life and fought for so many people to ensure that happened. You gave hope and support to so many families and lives were changed and made better because of you.
You will never be forgotten and when I speak of you I will be proud to call you my adopted sister.
I first met Amanda at the college where I worked and she was supporting a young girl, I was struck by her pacience and cheerfulness ,she made the most amazing cakes and would bring them in for us she also had a dream to enable people with disabilities to be all they could be and created life's for living through this I feel she accomplished her dream, she not only helped my son but also me and countless others.she will never be forgotten. Always in our hearts Janet and Dylan x
It’s so heartbreaking to lose such a lovely lady in the prime of her life. You were always so passionate about your work, family and friends, a very caring person with a big personality. I will always remember our contribution to ‘stars in your eyes’ me as Madonna and you and Donna attempting to be my backing singers, not much singing but a lot of laugher, it was hilarious, great times! Sleep peacefully x
Mum, There are no words that can explain the pain we all now feel that you have been taken from us, the emptiness that we will always feel inside caused by your passing. There are words however for the wonderful life you lead and the impact that you had on countless lives and will continue to do so with the legacy you have left behind. You have always been the most caring person, not even Mother Theresa could fill your shoes. You have looked after those in need for over 30 years, always putting others first right until the end, you welcomed two ladies into our family and made them feel at home, one of us. You raised 4 children who have all learnt invaluable life lessons and know the true meaning of family, you became the greatest mother-in-law and Nanny to wives and grandchildren who all adore you. To me, you have been my rock, my idol, the one person I could always turn to whenever I needed you, no matter where I was in the world. You also gave us the greatest gift we could ask for, Dad. You brought him into our lives at a young age, there were times we didn’t get along but what more could you expect with 3 growing teens in one house, but through all this we have gained a Dad who made you happy and has provided us with unconditional love. We will all return this gift you gave us by looking out for him now that you aren’t here, he will never be alone. My heart aches with the thought of never seeing you again or being able to speak to you, it still doesn’t seem real. I miss you mum and I love you so much. Love, Christopher xxx
Amanda was the most amazing lady. She came into our lives just over a year & a half ago, after she was highly recommended to me by a friend. In the time we knew her she turned our lives around for the better. Especially for my 2 girls who both have special needs. Within a few months of our first meeting, my youngest daughter went on the holiday of a lifetime to Disneyland Florida with Amanda & some of the other support workers, & she got my eldest daughter into her own home with supported living. She done more for us than anybody ever has. My girls spent a lot of time with Amanda, & they loved her dearly, as do we all as a family. If she said she was going to get something done, she would not stop until she had achieved it. We will be forever grateful & feel so blessed for having Amanda in our lives. She truly was one in a million. Amanda we will miss you always ♥️ Lots of love from Andrea, Wayne, Amber & Courtney xxxx
I wish we had more time to spend together as 22 years wasn’t long enough to be saying goodbye Mum. You helped me become the person I am today and I wish I could thank you for all you did for me even if I was being a pain. You were an amazing mum and the best Nanny Freddie and I could have ever asked for. I just wish it could have lasted longer than it did. You gave me so many moments worth remembering and I wouldn’t be where I am without your help. I love you Mum and even though you didn’t say it often I know you loved me deeply too. I will always miss you. Lots of love your favourite (and only) daughter
Sadly I only got to know Amanda in the last 2 and a half years, but what an incredible 2 and a half years it’s been. As a family Amanda gave us the courage to try new things with Megan. You gave me hope, strength and the belief that the future was bright. Not only has Megan made friends with the most incredible people because of you, she has experienced so much more and grown in independence, all because you gave us the encouragement to try. Never in my 28 years as a parent to a young person with special needs have I experienced someone as patient, kind, determined, passionate and incredibly generous with time as Amanda. We will never forget you and all that you have done for our family. Rest in peace lovely lady. Angela, Paul, Megan and Mollie. X X
20 plus years of memories fun, laughter and tears. You always said you were “Just being me”. That was one amazing quality to have Amanda, you made the world a brighter place to be. Fond love always Rachel and family xxxx
Auntie Manda because you cared... Auntie manda it all began on the 31st of july 1989 you where my mum’s birthing partner you where there to greet me because you cared. Gp, Consultant and hospital appointments you where there as much as i caused chaos you stayed by my side to comfort me because you cared. We shared the best holiday’s abroad! Alcudia and America are by far the best memories, In America you organised my 18th birthday at Logans restarant then a party back at the villa, you did that because you cared. We enjoyed theatre and shopping trips together, especially The band and Take That watching you to see if Gary Barlow would pop out in the Crowd! My life turned sour in 2017 i needed saving and you took me in. Fed me, clothed me give me a place to sleep, you where there through all my pregnancy and adopted my dog sabre those were tough times but you helped me through it because you cared. Lastly you were my first visitor driving from kent to Rutland to meet little Elsie, you treated her like your own grand daughter youve been there because you cared. Elsie may not remember memories with you but i will continue to reminsise those precious times she spent with you because you cared Love you always Meg
I had the privilege of meeting Amanda when my sister Maureen and her dear friend Lara were able to reunite. Amanda helped so many people. A lady with a huge heart and incredibly hard working. You always had great ideas and enthusiasm for your work. I only regret not being able to have a wee chat with you before you passed. Rest well lovely lady. You will never be forgotten x
