Amanda Smith was born in Harris County, GA on August 22, 1918 to the parents of Dock and Dora Billingslea. She departed this life on Wednesday, May 18, 2011.

Amanda, or Eskimo as she was affectionately called, was married to Ocie Smith, who preceded her in death.

Amanda was the proud mother of two sons, Gary Hudmon and John Lovelace, who also preceded her in death.

Amanda was a long time member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was especially loyal to the work of the Mother’s Board and was a Golden Member. She was faithful to her church. Even when she could not attend on her own, because of illness, she remained steadfast in her faith. She had the distinction of being the oldest active member.

Many people look upon death as a sad occasion. But the death of a Christian is a glorious time, for our Lord and Savior has said so, and the psalmist in Psalm 116:15 says, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saint.”

She leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted nephew and niece, Jarrell and Marlene Winston, LaGrange, GA; granddaughter, Robin Hudman, great-grand’s, and a loving host of other relatives and friends.

Interment: Marseilles Cemetery
