It is an honour to write this tribute for my late Colleague, brother and friend. Can't believe its already one year since you left us. Since I knew you Alex, I realized that you were someone special and loved by all.
You always made me laugh when we meet and you try to speak French and I ask you: "Comment ca va? and you reply: comme ci comme ca comme ca comme ci" and we laugh.
All your Colleagues in Egypt cherished you, you were one of a kind and you will be solely missed.
You were a caring and beloved family person and a cherished Colleague to all.
Alex dear you will be forever missed by many here specially me. But you will never be forgotten by those who were fortunate enough to have known you!
Rest in Peace my dear friend.

The Ambassador, the Honorable, Excellency Alexander H. N. Wallace lll was my friend, brother and fellow Growd 21 member! I’m sooo sorry circumstances didn’t permit me personally to attend his funeral. My daughter Weahde Weefur Greaves and her family represented.
Alex was a brilliant, thoughtful, kind, considerate, and humorous human being! I had never, I mean NEVER seen Alex with a frown or a sad face! He always had an uplifting, and positive take on things! Something a lot of people can surely use!

Your Excellency, farewell my senior colleague. You may have answered to calling of the Lord to rest after many years of service to our common patrimony, but we, your colleagues who had the distinct opportunity of interacting with you both officially and socially, you have let an imprint on our memory which is positive and worthy of emulation. Rest in Peace My Brother!

Dad brought me into this world and taught me everything I need to know about what it means to be a human being.
To be fully human in the image and likeness of God.
To focus on BEING.
Being a good natured person, a lover of life.
Being fully alive and in the moment.
Being true to your dreams and desires of your heart.
Being completely your unique self, no matter what others have to say.

We all know Dad was larger than life and his accomplishments go without saying. But the man I knew was more than His Excellency the Diplomat, He was His Excellency period.
Excellent as a friend, colleague, family member and truly excellent in his calling as a father.

There was not a time ever that I spoke with him when he didn’t tell me how much he loved me. That he didn’t tell me how proud he was of me. He was always kind and never ever raised his voice.
He exuded love and set such a fine example of excellence.

He was an extraordinary Human BEING.

I love you forever, Dad

To the Wallace Family,
My Mother Eugenia A. Wordsworth Stevenson, former Ambassador knew Alec as an intelligent and honorable man, our cousin who was very devoted to the business of Liberia, a loving husband,father, brother, friend and Son of Liberia. I knew him to be a fun-loving, person with a friendly outgoing disposition. He was respectful, courteous a true gentleman. He will truly be missed. To the family, we put our arms around you and weep with you knowing that you loved him so. Be comforted that he has gone home to his Heavenly Father and be at peace. May Light Perpetual shine on him.

I got to know Ambassador Wallace in the early 80s in London, UK when he was the first secretary at the Embassy of Liberia, and I a student. He was a good man. Open-minded, always approachable. He will surely be missed. May his soul RIP.

As an Ambassador, H.E. Alexander H.N. Wallace, III was a faithful diplomat who constantly served his nation with excellence;
As a father, he was a gentle guidance and outstanding mentor to folks who crossed path with him;
As a mortal being, he possessed countless positive characteristics that our world dearly requires:
Amongst others -
Honesty was usually blended in his activities,
Sincerity was obviously the driving force behind his actions,
Justice was always visible in his judgment,
Simply put, he was a man of absolute integrity.

Ambassador Wallace was a very kind person, who prioritized the needs of others,
He had a loving and caring heart,
He spoke with decency and maintained politeness,
He treated everyone with respect and dignity.

His Excellency was down to earth, never letting his status overshadow his simplicity;
He was very cheerful and friendly, winning him a lot of admirers;
He was very helpful to others, never quitting his supports;
He was really a good man and, above all, he was a God-fearing person;
He carries with him a truly genuine soul that will be forever missed.

As a boss, the late Ambassador exhibited exemplary leadership qualities, coupled with professionalism and insightfulness.
I will always remember these few statements of his: “never look down upon anyone”; “always put your trust in God”; “it pays to be humble and patient”.

Excellency, though your body is gone, your honorable deeds will forever occupy a special space in my memory. May you reap your rewards in heaven and may your gentle soul rest in perfect and deserving peace. I will always miss and forever remember you, boss. Have a blessed journey, Ambassador!

Alex and I had a very good relationship. We called each other on birthdays (he would call at an ungodly hour and ask if I was asleep. Vintage Alex!), holidays, and just to catch up. We were a family so, his passing was just as painful to me as anyone else.
The news of his passing sent shockwaves through the Liberian Community and far beyond. It was amazing how family, friends, and acquaintances calling to extend their sympathies remembered the same qualities that made him special. Some remembered his infectious laugh, that crazy dance he always referred to as his “sexy moves”, his sense of humor, and friendly disposition. He always recognized people no matter where and when….making them feel special—like they mattered. Some even mentioned his smoochy kiss with that squeaky sound. Talking about Alex in the past tense is so painful. We must now cherish the memories he left us.
Alex had one dream. That dream was that one day he would join the diplomatic service and become an Ambassador. When his relatives and friends who knew of his ambition greeted him as Ambassador or His Excellency, his whole persona changed. He walked, talked and laughed differently.
Alex lived and breathed being a diplomat. This was part of his DNA. He idolized his uncles, brother, cousins and friends who were diplomats.
In 1978, we were living in Greenville, Sinoe. Most Saturdays we visited Aunt Ruth and her husband Shobie for some R and R. We would have a few drinks, listen to music and the news on the radio. On this particular Saturday Coz. Emma Wasler was visiting and so she went along with us. The news came on and announced that The Foreign Service Department had appointed Mr. Alexander H.N. Wallace, lll to the Embassy of Liberia in Paris, France. We were all puzzled looking at Alex. He jumped up saying “You heard that?” “They just appointed me to Paris without me knowing”. He seemed excited instead of puzzled. Coz. Emma said, “maybe it’s another Alexander Wallace.” He said, “no, no, no, I am the only Alexander H N. Wallace, lll.” He had to go to Monrovia and find out what was happening. The following day he went to Monrovia and returned after a couple of days. He said that there was an opening at the Embassy in Paris for a position of Third Secretary and given a couple of months to make his decision. When friends and relatives asked him why he would take such a low level position he was over qualified for, he would say “sometimes you have to start from scratch” or “you have to crawl before you walk.” Before he could make his decision about the offer in Paris, the Embassy in London, England had an opening for a Second Secretary position. He was not going to let that opportunity pass by. He accepted the position as Second Secretary at the Embassy of Liberia to the Court of St. James, London, England, and the rest is HISstory.
I say bravo Ambassador Alexander H.N. Wallace, lll, because of your patience, persistence and dedication, you lived your dream. You lived your truth. A CAREER DIPLOPMAT.
Rest in peace
Love you “Honey”

I will always cherish my dear friend, Wallace, as I came to call him, and his family, as he and Miama invited me to become family as the Godmother of Scyatta when she was born in Oklahoma. We met at Langston University when I noticed him wandering around on the 2nd floor late afternoon on a Friday and I inquired may I help you? He said he was just looking for some black people. He invited me to dinner at his home the next Friday without asking his wife, but Miama warmly welcomed me. Rest in peace Wallace. Godma Annette

Ambassador Alexander Wallace was a real friend, a brother and a Colleague, who had a direct and positive impact on my life. Ever since we met, my life changed for the better. He always made me laugh never used my name, but always called me Suzy, don’t ask me why, as I don’t know. If he calls me at home my husband will call me Suzy a call for you, then I know its Alex (as I also call him).
I would like to say a few words about my best friend Alex. He and I met in Cairo/Egypt; he was always loved and respected by his Colleagues. He also had the best gathering in his Residence, where we all gathered to enjoy an evening or the lovely Reception he used to host to celebrate our National Day. Everybody was there enjoying their evening.
Alex taught me a lot about being patient.  I always tried to live up to his example. He was smart, motivated, thoughtful and caring. He helped me overcome a lot of fears throughout my life and I know that it will be difficult not having him around. If Alex was here today he wouldn’t want us to be sad. He would want us to cherish all of the great memories we had with him and not dwell on the loss. Alex, thank you for your friendship and being there for me all of these years, I will miss you forever and your friendship.
A best friend can be hard to find and I cherished yours.
Rest in Perpetual Peace my dear friend.
