ForeverMissed
With deepest sorrow, we announce that Amber Marie Shuey, age 39 our most beloved daughter, sister, family member and friend passed peacefully on Thursday, February 18, 2021 while in the hospital.  Amber was born in Lake Tahoe, California on March 26, 1981 to her loving parents Daniel and Renee, where she lived until she was two years old.  At that point, her family relocated to the Jackson, Michigan area where she lived the majority of her life well into adulthood when our heavenly father decided to take her home.

From a very young age Amber developed a passion for art and music.  You could always find her with a pad, pencil, or markers doodling while humming and singing when she created so many spectacular pieces.  She had the voice of an angel that could move your soul to tears.  One of Amber’s favorite activities was spending time on the water and boating as she loved the wind in her hair and the quiet calming peacefulness at sunrise and sunset.  She loved all of the holidays, however, Halloween was her favorite.  She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, telling ghost stories and watching scary movies; precious memories enjoyed by all.

Once she became a teenager, she developed an enthusiastic love and curiosity for hair and makeup where you could always see her fiddling with her own and eagerly asking to help others with theirs.  She had a twinkle in her eyes, a brilliant smile and an infectious laugh.  It seems as though everyone who came into contact with her fell in love with her vivacious energy and developed an instant bond.  Amber had so much goodness, so much capacity to bring happiness to others and such a bright future; all taken away much too soon.  The world is a lesser place without her.

Those who knew Amber, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives.

Amber will be missed everyday by her Father, Daniel Shuey, stepmother, Penny Shuey, Mother, Renee Leightner, stepfather, Geno Leightner, sisters, Danielle Fry and Cinnamon McKinney, stepsister, Brandee Prinze, stepbrother, Kiel Smith, nieces, Dakota, Elizabeth and Luna, her loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many, many great friends. Amber will be forever missed but never forgotten. Until we meet again, may you Rest In Peace.

The Day God Took You Home

A million times

I’ve needed you

A million times I’ve cried,

If love alone

Could have saved you

You never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly;

In death I love you still.

In my heart you hold a space,

Where no one can ever fill.

It broke my heart to lose you,

But you didn’t go alone

Part of me went with you,

The day God took you home.

A memorial service will not be held at this time due to the pandemic.  However, those who choose to offer a gift in honor of Amber, are asked to make a contribution in her name to The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC).

Do you have a photo of you and Amber together?  Please take a moment to share your Amber story(ies) and photos.

This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Amber Shuey. We will remember her forever.

There was 7 of us. Amber, Casey, Melissa, Andrea, Jeni, Hillary and myself. We were wild crazy and fun. I never thought those days would end. Even when they did I never gave up hope that we would all be friends as adults and moms as we were as kids, but life had other plans. 3 of them are gone now way too soon.
I’ll remember our hugs. They were seriously the best. Not sure what made them so great but they were . Her smile and laugh were contagious. Her drawings we’re magical.
I missed her before she was gone. I think those childhood friends help mold us, so she’ll always be a part of me and I hope I was a tiny part of her. ❤️

Amber,
There is so much I would like to say to you. I just can’t seem to find the words. I feel like this isn’t real, that you aren’t really gone. I have so many emotions I’m sorting out on a daily. I am staying strong and remembering the good old pure memories with you as children and teenagers running the streets in Pleasant Lake. Seeing you in Hunter and Harlow everyday makes me smile knowing that you are still here with us, but we know you are now in peace.
This year was a big year for you and I. We turn 40!! Can you believe it?! Im picturing your big charismatic smile now, belting out an Aaliyah song singing, “age ain’t nothing but a number.”

You had such a big heart and wanted to be truly loved. No matter what life curveballs were thrown at you, you stayed positive, always saying you could get through it. You always had my back no matter what. And I always had yours. I’m sorry, Amber. The family loves you and misses you so dang much. Rest In heaven my sweet Amber. -Love Melissa

Hope your shinning bright light a star up there

Amber was like my big sister growing up and one of my favorite memories is of her helping me and Danielle make a dance up for our talent show and your mom made our outfits! So many good memories of you and your family. I love you all.
