Amos Pou Coats Jr., 85, a resident of Sam Blackwell Road, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011 at his home.

A native of Johnston County, the son of the late Amos Pou Coats and Lizzie Wells Coats. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, a Mason, a member of Mt. Creek Baptist Church, a Deacon, a Trustee and was retired from Granville County E.M.S.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Mt. Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Johnny Richards. Burial will be in Mt. Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Violet Blackwell Coats of the home, his daughter, Jayne Coats of Carrboro, a sister, Esther Mae Coats of Garner, a brother, Alfred W. Coats (Ruth) of Garner and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 – 8:30 Monday evening, April 11, 2011 at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and other times at the home.


 

Flowers are acceptable or memorials may be made to Mt. Creek Baptist Church, c/o Michael Currin, 4072 Squire Lane, Oxford, NC 27565.
