Biography of Andree Jeudy (9/18/1923 - 6/27/2011)

September 18, 2013

Andree Jeudy was born in Mirebalais, Haiti, on September 18, 1923. She was the eldest of four sisters; Petronie, Antonia (deceased) and Ann (deceased). She was the daughter of Menos Jeudy and Rose Bouquet. Andree was a seamstress for most of her life. She is survived by two children: Louis Jeudy and Cindy Dieujuste, her daughter-in-law, Margareth Jeudy, and son-in-law, Kevin Dieujuste. Andree also had two adopted children: Margareth Denis and Rose Delice. Andree had four grandchildren: James, Jeremiah, Sheila and Lenz, and one great-grandchild, Nathan. Andree is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and countless loved ones throughout Haiti and various parts of the United States.

In 1997, Andree permanently left Haiti to move to the United States, where she had frequently traveled to, from time-to-time, since 1982. In April 1999, Andree made a public declaration to follow Jesus Christ all the way through baptism by immersion and becoming a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Since that time, Andree lived her life according to Psalm 119:115, which reads "Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God." (KJV) Her favorite song from the French SDA Hymnals was #522 entitled: "Ne crains rien, je t'aime!"

Although Andree is no longer with us, the impact she had on those who were privileged to know her is everlasting. To share a quote from a dear friend, "In the end, it’s not the years in your life that counts, It’s the life in your years". Thus, during the 87 years that we were blessed to have Andree in our lives, we experienced her undying love and compassion as she opened her doors to any and everyone who needed food or shelter, her laughter, which was filled with joy and goodness, her altruistic generosity as she was always willing to give the very clothes on her back to those in need without giving it a second thought, to her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior as she remained faithful until her dying breath.

A mere two-to-three paragraphs aren't enough to sum up the life of this marvelous woman. Nevertheless, it is those memories of her giving heart, whether it was towards the things of God or to her grandson so he can buy his first car, her love for traveling and the sheer joy with which she explored the world around her, her unmatched culinary gifts, which blessed our hearts and our stomachs plentifully over the years, etc., that provides us comfort in knowing that some day soon, through the promises of Jesus Christ, which can be found in 1 Thessalonians 4:16, we will be reunited with our beloved Andree Jeudy.

Thus, feel free to share your thoughts, and memories, of Andree as well.

Thank you for reading.

God bless!
